Examples Please.

IBM voice centre allows you to navigate you computer with just voice commands. It contructs a list of what you could no next (eg "file" the "save", "OK", "minimize" ) and then performs the action when you speak it. If Hal was able to see you regularly performing a specific task, Hal could prompt you and offer to complete the steps for you.
I will give a more detailed description if you want.

Sounds like it is do-able but I need examples.

This particular ability would be very exciting if you could make it happen. The information in the spread sheet/database could cover any type of information, with many more records than listed.
Example questions to build up the association would be: ( See attachemnt)

Fred Jones account number is 45. username Jane Bennet is beetle. Account number 500 is Toby Minto. Account number 500 is active. etc, etc.

I imagine to achieve this feat, you would need to use a variable as the association. It might be easier achieved if Hals was told to "Learn Table". Once Hal built up an association by discussing some of the records, Hal could apply the rule to all of the records.

Hi,
Some items on my wish list are:
1/Open link to a web site at a specific time.
2/ Open a batch of web site links
3/I would like to come to work in the morning and find Hal has already opened up the sites I need to visit on a regular basis or be able to say "please open all work sites".

Ok, I have downloaded htr files to use with Hal 6 and have put them in Hals 6 character file but they do not show under general options-character. Please advise what I have done wrong or what else I need to do.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Microsoft Agent ASC files
« on: April 12, 2006, 03:05:46 am »
I downloaded some microsoft agent asc files to use with Hal But they are way way way too big. I just want small pics that are the sames size as Hal's picture window.

Can the size of ASC character files files be adjusted to fit within Hals skin?

Also for a while I was able to modify Hals skin to be transparent. Now I cannot find the control(in the menu) for this. Did my Transparent button disappear??

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Access MDB and Hal
« on: April 12, 2006, 02:50:38 am »
I have an Access database of customers. The database shows information like username, first name, last name, country, etc.

Can I somehow link Hal to this database so we can discuss the customers?
I would like to ask Hal questions like who is ID 302?
or what is Fred Jones ID number?

I appreciate that having a conversation with Hal is the best way, but I have hundreds of customers and is not practical to discuss each one in length.

If I cannot link the databases, what is the best way to copy the information into Hals brain.

note: each of my customers has about 6 items of Data I would like Hal to learn

I was actually chasing the format l should use for the "text file" that can be downloaded into hal. l was hoping to teach hal my family tree ie:

my sisters name is ^^^
my oldest sisters name is ^^^
my mothers maiden name is ^^^
my oldest sisters husbands name is ^^^
my sister ^^^ is married to ^^^
^^^ sisters names are ^^^ and ^^^
my sisters names are ^^^
^^^ is married to ^^^

then follow up with questions:
what are my sister's names ?
what is my mothers name ?
is ^^^ married to ^^^ ?
who is ^^^ married to ???
what is my oldest sisters name ?
what is my fathers surname ?
what was my mothers maiden name ?

Since this type of information is fairly straightforward and "logical" l would hal should pick up the relationships reasonably well. Don't expect hal to make deductions therefore need to key in all the different combinations to as they exist.
l also don't wish to spend 10's of hours typing it all in, l was hoping to format all the possible combinations using an excel file and have the information download into hal.

next question: can you make hal "less intellegent" so he only gives you what you have fed him ?
