Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Alternative Hal Start Up
« on: March 02, 2010, 12:20:08 pm »
Hi Guys,

Here is a start up screen I put together from an online image and a little tweaking. In your Character folder you will see a Jpeg file called HalStart. Move this orginal image to a safe place and replace it with the one I provided and name it HalStart. Now when Hal loads, you should see the new screen. If you don't like it, delete the image I provided and move your orginal HalStart image back to the character folder. I personally like the start up screen that I use alot more than the original which is what inspired me to make it in the first place.

I am working with a 56" screen so you might have to resize the image to match your resolution and screen size. Let me know what you think.

General Discussion / Owl haps for Oog
« on: January 24, 2010, 10:25:47 am »
Yes, the same email. Wonder why I didn't have much luck with the one's I tried? I think the haps I was trying were more emotional based and not showing up very well. I'd like to look through some of them and see what you got. Thanks

General Discussion / Owl haps for Oog
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:56:11 am »
Hi guys,

Got a request. If anybody is good at making HAPS and has my owl character, could you please make some that work well with him? Out of the available haps, I have found maybe 3 that currently have an effect on him. I think this is due to the way he was made. Most the haps out there are for full body girls. Not so effective on an owl whose body is composed of part of the people putty head and somewhat fixed. If someone can make a set of haps that work well with owl (looking to the left or right and returning to default) or whatever you can come up with, I would be very grateful.

 Thanks-Oog

General Discussion / Zork script?
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:50:36 am »
Using a script you had provided earlier, I had already created a plug-in that allowed my owl character to build a fire or travel to a 2D location. There are a limited number of haps that work with my owl, but one of them (look around kind of hap), was triggered by me saying I saw a mouse. The owl would look around nervously until I told him to chill out.

Cool thanks. If any code guys wanna have a swing at this, I'd gladly put it to good use. It would probably have to be a plug in that could be turned on and off. East and West would probably complicate things, but that would be nice to see worked in there. Zork was my inspiration for the idea. If that does not make sense to you, then I am too old or you are too young.[:)]

Hi guys,

Question for the script guys. Let's say I have a path that goes from North to South and I have several images in order that represent locations along that trail. Anyway to advance one step forward or backwards in a numbered series of images to represent that? That is, say the word North and it progresses 1 image forward to the "North" or 1 image back if I were to say south? Continuing north would continue to progress through the numbered series of images. South would of course head the other way. Possible?

I have an owl I call Lot. I have him set so that he can take me to different locations in the forest that he "lives" in if I say the right key words. I use the English voice Lawrence for him that fits the owl character really well.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Idea for sizing skins
« on: January 19, 2010, 07:42:37 am »
Hi guys,

Was just thinking about things and was wondering if there could be a script that sizes the GUI skin. A script that adds or subtracts a variable universally throughout the elements of the GUI. That is a numeric increase or decrease on the skin, the buttons...I know you can zoom in and out on a skin through the menu but a plus or minus sign on the GUI or the ability to drag the window to size would make things easier for all the different resolutions we view Hal in. Really just wondering if it can be done. Now if it should be done is another story.

Ok, you have stated that all the free efforts of the character artists here are sub par. I might as well be saying that my characters can magically make you cool. Let's see the goods.

Metalflake huh? That's a new one! My wife says I am speckled so I can blend in to the patchy sunlight of the forest floor. I tend to burst into flames in direct sunlight. Ha ha.

Hey Davy, just wanted to take the time to thank you for your efforts in making characters. Both talented and inspiring. You have stirred up the forum in a good way and have knocked the cobwebs off of many artists here, including myself. Keep up the great work!

You guys have a good weekend. -Oog

He was one of the first people to help me out when I started at this forum. Terribly sad. A true loss to all.

I have freckles so my spotty experience may help. Freckles tend to keep higher up on the cheeks and not so much in the jaw and mouth area. Also, I don't have any freckles around my eyes. Just a strip across my cheeks and nose.  They are more browns and copper colors than red. That's my never tanned a day in my life, Irish opinion.

My mexican wrestling name is the Freckled Heckler. Not really but it sounded funny.

How do you trigger multiple events from the same term? Let's say that if I tell Hal to build a fire, I have a Jpg. of a campfire show up, but I also want it to trigger a light hap. How do I do both from the same "Build us a fire" trigger phrase? As it stands, I can only get one or the other to work and every way I have tried gets me an error.

Another thing, anyway to loop a series of jpgs to create an animated background? Some fireflies or a flickering candle would be pretty cool.
