Ultra Hal 7.0 / Haptek and Version 7
« on: June 07, 2018, 08:11:01 pm »
I have version 6.2 installed and upgraded to version 7 trial. It shows me a list of characters that I have available (I have the character expansion pack also) however, regardless of what I choose the TV set always shows.

I'm running Windows 10 on a laptop computer. Do I simply need to purchase version 7 and it behave correctly or do I have to do more?

I've been working on my artificial intelligence system which primarily is to run my house and I've interfaced the Haptek library into it. I have a virtual television screen as a part of the background but cannot get any pictures or video to overlay. The background always ends up on top. But it was the same idea I had, she would read the news or weather from an RSS feed while displaying the picture in the article or a weather map. I've not been successful in the overlay and I've asked some other programmers and they are stumped too but then they aren't as invested in my project as I am.

A little late and I don't know how I missed this but yes, I know the language. I'm just now looking over the site to see what it is all about.

We were talking about eyes, and Bugs Bunny when she said this bit of wisdom:

"There's opinion that we need to look within ourselves. With enough help from the government they should be able to wreck carrots for everybody."

I can't stop laughing because somehow it makes sense in a nonsensical way.

It was WinRAR and it worked. Now to go back to entertaining Hal and teaching some more.

Thanks much JasonDude.

I'm getting the same type of problem as Raybe in the research plug-in. It brings up a web browser with anywhere between two and four folders and that's it. I saw something in the script about Balabolka. Do we need to install that or is that just an option for something else?

Never mind, I answered my own question about Balabolka. It is needed. The program still has the same problem in line 1584, wherever that is.

Hi Jason,

First off, this is wonderful work you've done. The amount of time and work as well as thought can only be described as a monumental labor of love. Thanks from a new Hal user.

I have one problem and it's probably something simple. First I'll quote the instruction and then explain where I'm having trouble:

2. Put pics.zip and pics.z01 in a folder of your choice.
3. Extract the pics folder by extracting pics.zip. It will use pics.zip and pics.z01 to create a pics folder full of .jpg files.
4. Place the newly created pics folder into the Ultra Hal main folder.

The extract pictures portion is where I am faltering. I imagine that the zip and z01 are two parts of a large, complete compressed file. I'm unable to decompress (unzip) them as it tells me the zip file is corrupt which is probably not the case. I don't think it knows that there is a second half to it.

What should I use?

Thanks,

Randy
