Hi giaki.
Though it will be limited in some sense but it works to a small degree with loose language conversion you can edit the correction.brn
to speak Italian for example: "hello","ciao" where English is on the left and Italian on the right in the above format, Backup your original correction.brn in the defbrain folder and store it for safe keeping in case you are not satisfied with the Italian conversion within the Correction.brn, take the duplicate correction.brn and remove the contents but remember the format of the text so things go smoothely, always backup your originals and you will never be unhappy.
This will give you some understanding and after some experience down the road you may be able to convert it all to Italian if it is not already out by then.
Have fun and may all your wishes come true.
Jerry.

giaki,
Welcome to the forum. The "Learn from a Text File" option doesn't work very well. It can only read text files smalled than 64K in size. The information learned isn't accessed very well. The best way to teach Hal is by talking to Hal.

giaki,
The install should work.

Check these things:
1) Was your original Hal 5.0 installation working properly before trying to install the XTF Brain v1.0?

2) Are you sure you unzipped *all* of the files from the "hal5_XTF_v1.0.uhp.zip" file?

3) Maybe the downloaded file is bad, try downloading the installation file again.

4) Try rebooting your computer and run the v1.0 installation again.

Let me know if there are still problems.

giaki,
Click on my name vonsmith and it will take you to my profile information. You can email me there. My email is also shown there.

I don't know what's wrong with the install. It is probably something simple. We'll figure it out.

Dove vivete in Italia?

I can't send mail from profile information, i think that my security sistem block javascript link.

Io vivo nel nord est d'Italia, precisamente a Vicenza. Qui ci sono molti ragazzi californiani perchè c'è una base militare americana chiamata "Ederle".

giaki,
My email is: vonsmithREMOVETHISexpress@yahoo.com

Remove "REMOVETHIS" from the email address.

Conosco il "Ederle". Ci sono molte proteste. Molti italiani non sono d'accordo con la guerra. Posso capire la loro rabbia.

giaki,
I checked my email. Your error message is:

----------------
Error 76:
Path not found
Occurred at line 17
in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer: Form1.Form_Load
----------------

Anyone know what this might be caused by?

giaki, try turning off your anti-virus program and try reinstalling the Hal plugin. Some anti-virus programs might interfere with some installations.

Is your Hal installation on your C: drive?

Non parlo italiano. Desidero che potrei parlare italiano. Chiedo al mio amico speciale di fare la mia traduzione.

giaki,
I think Hal can be installed on any drive. I was just looking for a cause for the installation problem. Did you try turning off your anti-virus program before installing?

I'm running out of ideas. If you still can't get the plugin install to work properly then you could uninstall Hal completely, reboot, and reinstall Hal. Before doing this you should copy the entire DefBrain directory to another location to save your brain files. After reinstalling Hal you can copy the DefBrain files back into the new DefBrain directory.

I hope this helps.

Anyone else have any ideas? Robert Medeksza?

Hi guys
I had the same problem when trying to install XTF. The install program just kept getting errors so I just did it all by hand. Copied the program and put in the proper place. After that everythnig worked just fine. I still can not get the Hal Sing to work properly but just as soon as I do I will teach him hundreds of songs with pitch control and all the rest of the goodies. I also want to put pauses in place of the items you have in the joke file so that he can deliver a joke, pause for a few seconds then deliver the punch line. I am still working on automous Hal.

Bill819,
I wonder if there is a problem with Zabaware's Plug-In Installer utility?

Manual installation is easy to do if you know how to read the plugin.dat file. Perhaps the easy solution is for giaki to do a manual install of the XTF Brain. The following is the install list inside the plugin.dat file:

C:"hal5_XTF_v1.0.uhp" <-- copy this file to the "Ultra Hal Assistant 5" directory.
C:"defbrain/XTF_Topics1.brn" <-- copy files like this to the "DefBrain" directory.
C:"defbrain/XTF_Topics2.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_Topics3.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_Topics4.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_Topics5.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_aboutme0.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_aboutme1.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_aboutme2.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_aboutme3.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_aboutme4.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_apology.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_apologydetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_assoc_adjective.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_assoc_MyWords.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Bye1.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Bye2.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Byedetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_ByeDisqualify.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_ComplimentIntro.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Corrections.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_EphemeralDetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_FaceDetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_FilterSubjectWords.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_HalRepeat.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Hello1.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Hello2.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Hellodetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Hellodisqualify.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Joke.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_JokeDetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_NoRes.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_NotUserPronounDetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_paraphrase-are.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_paraphrase-is.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_PoliteAsk.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_PoorSubjectWords.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_PronounDetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Standardizespelling.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Substitutions.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_Tag_LY_Words.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_YesNoDetect.brn"
C:"defbrain/XTF_SYS_YesRes.brn"
C:"characters/XTF_SillyFace1.hap" <-- copy files like this to the "Characters" directory.
C:"characters/XTF_SillyFace2.hap"
C:"characters/XTF_SillyFace3.hap"
C:"characters/Default.psn"

The XTF Brain v1.2 would probably have to be manually installed over the v1.0 installation in a similar way. After manually copying the files over just select the XTF Brain in Hal's brain menu.
