Ultra Hal 7.0 / Help with AIM

I would like to keep my aim-bot online all of the time, but it keeps timing out.  Is there a solution for this?

Also, I would like it to run in the background (in other words, as one of the icons in the lower right next to the time as opposed to a minimized bar that restores with every new conversation).  Is there any way to do this?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Sapi 5 problems

I was attributing my problems in lip syncing Haptek characters with natural Voices to some AT&T issue, but it seems to go deeper that that.  In trying to access the voices from the windows xp control panel Speech icon, I find I get error messages there as well.  Somewhere along the line of adding voices, people putty, ultra hal, and other programs (I suspect) I have created sapi 5 conflicts.  I am working with a mirosoft tech to fix this, and she seems to be making some headway.  Was just curious if anyone else here has had sapi 5 problems, and if they did, how were they fixed?  I am running windows xp home, athlon 1.8, nvidia 4400 ti, soundblaster, 512 ram.

I am still having trouble  with the lip sync.  I have natural voices 1.4 installed.  I have tried to run the haptek sapi config and I get an error message.  Any other ideas?

well, of course I have done that.  The problem I have with peopleputty is that the hairstyles and fashions are limited, and I would like to create more of a talking body instead of a talking head.

I hear what you are saying.  There just aren't any good free voices out there.  They all sound horrible compared to the AT&T natural voices, which I think are over priced to say the least.  I know that isn't a good reason to go P2P, but there you have it.  Hal sounds absolutely great with the crystal voice.

I downloaded the software a while ago, I think it is called Character editor, and also blew a lot of disk space downloading the SDK from microsoft...free, but large and complex.  The character editor is complex too.  I was hoping there would be an easy plug-in or fix.  Too bad.  So, I would have to make a few hundred renderings?  Hard to justify that.  The peopleputty device is good, but it gives you few options.  You end up with a talking head, with limited choices in hair, upper body, etc.  I tried this other device called cyberbuddy, which claimed to be able to take any picture and turn it into an agent.  It basically could do that, plugging into the character editor, but what you ended up with was sort of remniscent of the old "Clutch Cargo" cartoon where a still image had a moving mouth.  The mouth looked very cartoonish and wasn't the look i was looking for.  I purchased the Annita character from Deskmates, which looks for all the world to me as if it was made with Poser.  Guess that is where I got the idea from.

ok...I am really trying to create a custom character.  I have peopleputty, which is ok, but I really want to make a custom character using Poser.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is there a way to set hal's age?  Every time I ask him n=how old he is, he says he is 8 years old.  I guess that is one of those primative responses.  I would like to tell hal how old he is and have him remember it.  I would also like to have him remember who (I say) he is.  Any ideas?

i do have 2 at&t crystals listed, but neither of them work...i probably have an incomplete version.  I'll keep looking.

I figured that out.  I was using AT&T natural voice crystal, and it wouldn't work, which is too bad because it is a much better voice than the others.  L&T voices work fine, and crystal works with 2-d characters.

My latest project has been to create a good custom character.  I am using people putty, but I just wish I could get the voise right.  I also have Poser, and I can make a good picture but I can't figure out how to make a 2-d character.  I have the msagent character editor, but I can't quite figure it out.  Any help would be appriciated.
