Ultra Hal 7.0 / problem with hap files in Hal
« on: December 06, 2009, 03:00:57 pm »
I've been trying to control the body_female.htr in Hal using trigger phrases and hap files with the HapSwap plugin. But i'm having problems getting some hap files to work correctly in Hal, although they do work in the haptek console. A simple example ...

#Haptek  Version= 2.00 Name= walk.hap   HapType= script FileType= text
## world standard

setswitch [switch= walk3 state= 1]
\clock [t= 10] \setswitch [switch= walk3 state= off]

This works fine in the haptek console. But in Hal, the character never stops walking. Does the "clock" command not work in Hal? Or is there something wrong with this hap file? Can anyone give me advice on how to control timing commands in Hal?

Regards
Davy

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / assesory removeal hap

You should be able to edit the hap file with any text editor. I think simply removing all the lines that remove hair, for example

\delperson[figure= Hair_6_2EXP]

That's what i would do, no need to write a new hap, just edit the old one. [:)]

I got a reply from Jack at Haptek, and he says it sounds like alpha mapping is turned off. But he has no idea what could have caused this, or how to fix it. Perhaps someone has experience with this glitch or knows of a possible solution?

There are so many things that can up-set our computers.
Have you got any new programs, hardware etc.
Have you tried to alter the hairs in some way.
Last resort is that windows has got a little problem.
The thing is DON'T give up.

Well, yes, i have made some recent hardware changes. I added an external hard drive via a usb port. And i installed Poser and iclone software to that drive. I also upgraded to a better graphic card, Nvidia GeForce 8400. No change in resolution settings (1024 x 768) or color (32 bit).

I can't imagine how these changes could affect the haptek player, though i suppose anything is possible.

Well, i un-installed and re-installed People Putty. But that didn't help, hair still doesn't display properly. Even in Ultra Hal, the hair is blocky. [:(!][:(!][:(!]

I think i will try re-installing People Putty. Could a corrupt People Putty cause full body female haptars to disply blocky hair?

Gmail won't accept zip files with an executable (.exe) file. One way to fool gmail is to change the .exe extension to something else, such as .bak. Then i could change it back to .exe.

Thanks lightspeed

Email sent. I am really at a loss understanding why hair doesn't display properly.

I can't find an installer for version 41139. The only installer i can find is for version 41140.

At this time, i would be happy to get hair to display properly. All of my female .htr files display very blocky hair, even the full body female. So this can't be a People Putty problem, it must be a problem with the haptek player. I un-installed and re-installed the haptek player, but the problem still exists.

Unless i can get this fixed, i am finished with Haptek and People Putty. [:(!]

Here is a screenshot of the full body female.

Ok, i want to make sure i'm doing this right before i un-install the Haptek player. I backed up this folder ...

C:\Program Files\Haptek\player

But i'm not sure which version i need to download. I'm finding links to various versions, such as Haptek Player 4.11.40. Is this the latest version? Or should i use this link to install?

http://www.haptek.com//products//player//autoinstall//

Thanks
Davy

Thanks Lightspeed. Now i find it, listed as "The Haptek Player". I was looking for "Haptek Player". [:I]

I'll try un-installing and re-installing, hopefully that will fix my problem.
