I suspect the L&H dictionary doesn't support modification to phoneme assignments. I ahevnt tried it from the Windows speech control panel yet.

Just a note to those using alternate voices.

Try it.  I had to do that, and it seems to work fine in the Windows Speech Control Pannel.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / New voice

You do realize that wav files are pre-recorded sound files?  They contain any sound you record.  They are not text files being read by a voice engine.  Hal could only use voice engines to run since the text is not made up of pre-recorded data.

I hope I didn't insult your intelligents by pointing this out to you.  I just want to help clear this up for you.

Oh thank goodness.  I've been working on a Farscape character called Pilot for almost a whole year.  Just to make him into an MS Agent character.  I just have a few more touches to do, and I'll start making animations for the character.  I was hoping to use him in HAL, cyber buddy, and Smartbuttler all at the same time.  I'm currently using the blonde head character from Davidware and it all works very well together.

I was worried that after a year of work, I wouldn't get to use him with hal.  If you are interested in seeing what I have done, so far, on my model, check out my web page.

Please tell me that hal CAN still use the old MSAgent characters too beside the new people putty stuff.  I'm attached to my newly created Pilot MSAgent that I use.  I would like to be able to use him witht he new hal.  Is HAL still able to use MSAgent if we choose that option?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Making Skins

I was trying to make a skin, with a transparent part, and at the bottom of a file called brain.uhp  This statement occurs...

This is the transparent mask. If the skin should have transparent areas enter a list of all the coordinates of every transparent area. Use the program MakeTran.exe located in Hal's folder to help you make a transparecny mask. If the skin is a rectangle then set the transparency string to "false" otherwise enter the string of values that the MakeTran.exe program gives you.

Would you happen to have a copy of MakeTrans.exe with your version of hal?  I didn't get one.  I was wondering if any body else does.  Or if someone has a copy of a transparency using skin that could send me a file showing how the "list" appears in the uhp file so I have some idea of what I need to do.

I'm new to messing with VBScript.  I added this to my brain script and it appears to work.  But you mentioned an error.  I did notice I'm not get the programed responses.  Where is the error you were talking about.  Could you write me at rlevasseur@prexar.com and let me know?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Any suggestions for Ultra Hal Assistant 5.0?

I'm hoping I explain this so that you understand what I mean.  I would like to see hal be able to compile a list from his data.  What I mean is...  If I tell hal that Chiana is a character on a TV series called Farscape.  Crichton is a character on a TV series called Farscape.  and then Aeryn is a character on a TV series called Farscape.  You should be able to ask hal, "Who are characters on the TV series Farscape?"  He should be able to answer "Chiana, Crichton, and Aeryn are all on the TV series, Farscape."  As he is now, unless I didn't teach him correctly, he might mention one of the characters, but never tells me the other names.  No matter what I ask him or how.

Will something like this ever be added or be possible in hal?

OK, now that is weird.  My copy just did the same thing.  But I rebooted and everything is fine.  I only noticed a couple of bugs.  When I tell Hal about a new phone number, and then ask him for the number, he seems to have no idea what I'm talking about.  He just repeats what I say.  If I close hal, and reopen him, then he remembers the phone number.

Will this be fixed in the new version?  I just wanted you to know the errors you are having is not only your copy.
