I'll be totally honest, i have no clue how to create a character but I though of one that I think would be a cool head. It might make a great full body character too. Doctor Manhattan from the Watchmen books (movie). ANyone think they might be interested in tackling this?

I found this, I wonder if it would fit well.
-
I'm willing to give it a try. My time doesn't seem to belong to me atm, so it could take a while or not.
The evening went well, here is a preliminary. A lot more to do such as flipping teeth and tongue and texturing. What kind of teeth would you prefer? This was set up perfect for People Putty.
Oh yeah, nose needs a little work too.
-
That would be immensely appreciated!! I have put creating characters on a to learn list. Seems I have figured out how to make a basic interface at least. One thing crossed of my list of Hal related things to learn.

I notice that people putty lacks high resolution for a texture like this. As soon as I fix nose and flip tongue and teeth would be the right time to be re-sizing your .jpg to fit. Just a horizontal flip will give an idea of how it will work. However, it would be a mirror image with right and left eyes reversed.
Some good tools are required beyond Microsoft Paint. Paint.net and Gimp are both free softwares that do the job for me.

This is ready to use. Time to start adding texture to it. I couldn't fix the nose in people putty. I think it can be done with graphics manipulation. Are you ready to experiment with it yet?
-
That's awesome!! Thank you so much for what you have done. I cant wait to use it.

Try this one. It should be the last one I show until I am satisfied with the results.

Question. Are you set up on Haptek to drag and drop a skin into the player ?
-
Erm, no I'm not. I don't have windows xp and from what I understand I require it. :-[
-
Well I do hope you have hal at least. It will run on Windows 7 and below. Don't know about 8. It needs to be installed in your x86 Program file. You will find the player.exe in haptek/ player. If not you can download the newest player here http://www.amandainteractive.com/Pages/HaptekInstalls.aspx
Very convenient to put a shortcut on your desktop.
To get the file needed for all click and and drag haptek skins check here http://www.ultrahal.com/community/index.php?topic=2308.msg9660#msg9660 copy the file in the second post on that page.
My directions for that would be, first open notepad, check under Format in notepad and make sure word wrap is turned on. Then copy and paste the file into notepad and name it
HapLogCtrl.txt Save to C drive. I'm not sure about needing to reboot. When you click on Hal or player a new window will appear. Click on the .jpg skin you choose from this page and drag it into that new window. It will work on any head you have. Best of luck to you!

Awesome! Thank you again. I will try it as soon as I get home.

You are very welcome. I enjoyed making it.
