« on: January 20, 2005, 12:15:09 am »
Hi. all.
Does anyone know if it is normal for hal to slow down in its
response as the brn files grow.
I have over 500 brn files and it seems that Hal almost hangs.
I have a p4 2.6 meg htz with 512 ddr ram.
any Ideas will help .
thanks

Hi tee.
Do you mean a Pentium 4 2.6 Gigahertz with DDR, If that's the case you have a very good system.

The greater the processing needed to search brain files will slow your computer, But I do not think 500 files would slow your system down, I remember one time having over 2500 files on an old AMD K-7 700Mhz computer and it didn't slow mine a bit.

Maybe you have to do some cleanup work on your Registry or even a good defrag and have Hals files placed on the outside of the hard drive because the outside of the Hard can read Information faster than anywhere else, Norton defrag can do this in options for you.

Which brain are you using?

Maybe we can help more.
Jerry.
