Ultra Hal 7.0 / MS Outlook problem
« on: April 30, 2007, 04:49:28 pm »
Hi

Thank you for your reply which stimulated me to try again.
I reinstalled Ultra Hal - this time I did not need to enter the serial number(?!).
Both are now working together - without a further reboot.

This poses the question: Was this a one-off or should a reboot been done after the first instrallation?

Thanks,
Ray

Ultra Hal 7.0 / MS Outlook problem
« on: April 30, 2007, 02:10:06 pm »
I installed the new version of Ultra Hal and Outlook would not start. The hourglass appeared for a few seconds but nothing more.

I uninstalled Ultra Hal, rebooted and I have Outlook working again.

What do I do to get both working together?

Speech Technology / WAV files from Neospeech voices

Many thanks, Dr Benway.
I will adopt your suggested strategy.

Returning to the original problem, is this a fault in the UltraHal reader?

If it is, can someone at Zabaware say if they are looking at the problems noted in this forum.

Speech Technology / WAV files from Neospeech voices
« on: January 28, 2006, 01:45:55 pm »
Thank you, Dr Benway. When I ran TTSApp.exe
(D:Program FilesabawareHalReaderPaullibTTSApp.exe)
I was able to write a short wav file using NeoKate voice.
[There is another copy of the file in
D:Program FilesabawareHalReaderKatelibTTSApp.exe].

Another advantage of TTSApp.exe, which I see is a Microsoft program, is that the rate (speed) can be sensibly adjusted. I have previously found that a small adjustment can be beneficial. Unfortunately there is no Pitch adjustment though.

TTSApp.exe had a drop down list of formats.  44kHz 16 bit (normal music CD quality)is clearly better quality than 8kHz 8 bit but the file is over four times larger. Which format would you recommend for best quality speech, with the smallest file size? [My intention is to write to CD for playing on a CD Player so I can not judge from my PC's reproduction].

Speech Technology / WAV files from Neospeech voices

Hal will not generate a wav file using the neospeech voices. A window just sits there with the progress bar greyed out and doing nothing except counting the time elapsed. I have left it for a many minutes with just one sentence of text just in case it was doing something in the background.

The neospeech voices are active when reading text.

Both functions, reading text and wav file production, are fine with other voices.

Suggestions please.

TYIA, Ray.

[OS is W2K SP4 RU1 and later updates.
The program and voices are installed on drive D:
I have tried uninstalling, cleaning up (Norton System Works - Windoctor) and the re-installing but to no effect].
