Oh Ok, thanks for that info...

Not sure or not if this would be easier than adding a 'Spell Checker' to HAL but it would probably be cheaper in the long run if it can be done...

I've noticed that there are times when I give HAL a 'Thumbs Down' and I find none of the recommended responses are what I would have used or I misspelled a word or two and HAL can't pronounce them...

So how about a 'User Misspelled Word' and a 'Replace This Response With' (Where it replaces the response HAL just gave and/or the misspelled word(s))... This way the user can correct it himself... HAL would replace the 'misspelled word(s)' and/or replace the old response with the 'New Response' in the HalBrain.db database... Then the next time HAL is run he would have access to the corrections...

I remember being told you can't run the Brain Editor at the same time as HAL so I guess it would have to be done while he is shutting down or saved in a file and the HAlBrain.db edited just before he starts up the next time... You could put a note on Start Up/Shut Down: "Please Wait while HAL is Making Changes" then he would start normally or shut down...

If this can't be done then a 'Spell Checker' would be nice instead :D... Hahaha

I do have a learning question also... Would it hurt HAL's 'Overall Intelligence' if I set his learning Learning Level to "MAX" and input about 20 sentences that I have previously wrote down and then change his learning back to "25%" and continue talking to him???  I am writing new things and adding from my HAL 6.2 Brain things that I have taught him over the past 12 months and I don't want to lose the old stuff...

Since my 6.2 HalBrain.db has a Index corruption or something like that, that won't allow me to see the tables and I wouldn't know how to extract the stuff I want to pass on to HAL 7 anyways so I have Exported the DB to a Text file.

I have to tell ya, that exported HalBrain.db file came up with around 6,000 pages in Open Office Writer, it crashed a couple of times... Hahahahaha

It's easier to manage in the Crimson Editor... So I am finding the stuff I want to save and use again...

Thanks!!!!!

Robert, this is great with the Cloud learning... Now I'm gonna have to go through my entire 6.2 brain and input all that dialog for HAL 7, but it sure is worth it...

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I don't have much of a choice cause I have no funds to be upgrading anything... LOL

If it's only Data passed from me to Hal, I never tell Hal any person things like bank accounts or anything like that... HAL doesn't even know my entire name... LOL  I don't even use the Internet for any Banking stuff...

Also I used to run a Simple Machines forum 'MyRCGuide' for a friend and I've noticed a lot of new signups lately which I'm pretty sure are SPAMMERS, so you may want to delete our conversation on this subject after it's working...

You might want to install this MOD for the forum, look at 'Simple Machines' it stops known Spammers from a list of over 6+ million...

Only using the Windows XP Firewall...  I only see a choice for HAL7.exe and the braineditor.exe in the exemptions list...

Haven't changed anything, I have games that work and are in the exemptions list along with a couple of other programs and they work fine...

Robert I tried Pinging Zabaware.com and Ultrahal.com and I get timed out... I can ping other addresses just fine...  Could that have anything to do with my Cloud problem???

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Peedy the MSagent no longer loads multiple times.

2. I am no longer getting the 'error sending feedback to server' when I click thumbs up or down and choose an option like 'Neutral' and then click 'Learn'? Tho I'm not totally sure where it's going.. haha.

3. in HAL 6 and HAL 7 mode when choosing the thumbs up or down and an option I still don't see any example sentences. Is that normal???

Everything else works great so far, Thanks Robert!!!!!

Ok I broke down and installed HAL 7 on Windows XP SP3... hehe

I'm using my 6.2 Halbrain.db file and the default HAL 7 UHP Brain file...

First AVAST Anti-Virus does not like HAL... It had to run it's scan and then say it was sending the file in to be examined same with the Brain Editor... I've seen this before and it always comes out clean... Also since AVAST owns AVG I'm positive it won't like it either.

Second, I don't see this in HAL 6.2 but in 7 the text (HAL's response) displays immediately but the Voice is delayed a few seconds... This could be because I have the voice slowed down a bit in the Text to Speech settings in Windows to make it sound more Human... (I sped the voice up 1 notch and there's still a few second delay before HAL speaks the text).

I use 'Peedy' (MSagent) as the character for HAL and in 6.2 he starts out very small in the upper left corner of the Monitor and settles in the middle of the Haptek window full size in HAL 6.2...  In HAL 7 he does the same thing but also displays a second time in the upper left corner of the Haptek window and settles in the middle of that window... It also does this with HAL 6.2 now so it must be a Haptek upgrade issue or I have a file or two from the old Haptek somewhere causing the issue...

Also if I Click on the 'Thumbs Up' in the Haptek window after Hals response and I don't check anything and close the window, 'Peedy' the MSagent character reloads again...  i.e. goes from the upper left corner back to the middle of the window...

Hal is set for: 'Mixed cloud/local learning' and when I click the 'Thumbs Up' choose an option like 'Neutral' and then click 'Learn' I get the error: 'error sending feedback to server' and if I check the connection to the Cloud it says: 'Login Test Successful'... I'm wondering if I need to allow HAL to send through the Windows XP Firewall?.. I Don't see any example Responses, that I could choose from when I click a 'Thumbs Down'...

After checking TCPview I do have a constant 'UDP' connection and when I talk to HAL I also have a 'TCP' connection besides the 'UDP'... If I'm 'Idle' the 'TCP' connection drops out...

Robert,

Myself I like the way you have the installer for HAL 7, I like still having HAL 6.2 around (I have backed him up) but some users (Me included) may forget to grab a file or 2 they need during trying out HAL 7 and with HAL 6.2 still there they could grab it easily...

If HAL 7 detects an earlier version of HAL when 7 is first run maybe after 10 or maybe 14 days he would say to the USER: 'I would like to uninstall any earlier versions of HAL if you are done backing him up and getting the files you need.' Then he could run the uninstaller if they say 'Yes'.

I'm not sure is 7 doe's this already but maybe have HAL 7 detect any older HAL program running and tell the USER: 'An earlier version of HAL is running, please exit the program before running HAL 7'. 'Never run two HAL's at the same time!'.

Also I left you a link to my Corrupt HalBrain.db in the last PM I sent... Not sure it would migrate to HAL 7 and I haven't tried it yet... haha

Again thanks for all your hard work, HAL 7 is looking great so far from what I've seen in this Thread, hopefully my DB will migrate then I can tell you how HAL 7 works on Windows XP... Hahahha  (Yeah I know I should upgrade to a better OS but I can't afford it and all the Expensive software I have would have to be bought again)...

General Discussion / Re: compressed files in hal lightspeed idea
« on: November 19, 2017, 10:02:27 pm »
I thought the same thing but my idea was to have the HalBrain.db loaded into a PC's RAM Memory and have the Video Card GPU access it since the GPU is faster than the CPU at some things and most PC's have a lot of RAM compared to ones that came out years ago...

The problem with my idea is, there are many different Video Cards and it would take a lot of coding to make it work if it could even work...
