I just purchased hal 6.2 got text to speech also and at&t natural voices (crystal) works great reading text but my question is I can't seem to get hal to talk with crystals voice It is'nt even listed as an option in general options -speech. Is this option possible? or is crystals voice just for text reading. Quidmark [:I]

I don't know because i am using crystal w/o problems.
did you install to a different directory than the default?

Try running the Haptek SAPI config program - it should be listed in with your start->all programs->Haptek Player menu. Doing this often fixes things - from there you can also set your default voice.

I am a new member and would be grateful for some help.
I am running XP on Acer Aspire One with 2GB RAM, 130GB SATA HD and Intel Atom processor. I have AT&T voice Crystal installed in a folder "ATTNaturalVoices" on C:\rogram Files. I have purchased UltraHal version 6.2.28. and it is installed in the folder "Zabaware" on C:Program Files.
I have purchased the character Cheri which is a 28MB file installed in C:WINDOWS|msagentchars.
Also
C:AgentsCheriAetUp 29MB application.
C:Program FilesabawareUltra Hal Assisstant 6 1KB UHP file
When I run Ultra Hal the Crystal voice is heard and the Cheri character appears. However, there is no lip sync. I have run Ultra Hal the Character option under speech and can see that Cheri is present and high lighted. The lip sync has an X as a property. When I run the SAPI update config the HapSAPISetup window opens and the Peter voice is selected. I select the ATT Crystal voice, test it so I can hear it and then hit the "make it my default SAPI option but it will not save this.
When I run Cyberbuddy the Crystal voice works and there is lip sync.
Can anybody please tell me why I cannot get lip sync with Ultra Hal?
Thank you.
Douglas

Unfortunately, I think the "X" means "not available". Hal only seems to recognize a few lip sync msagents and I don't know why. I would love to know so I could make my agent lip sync ready.

Oh that is very disappointing! Thank you.

Well, wait to see if someone tell me I am wrong, that happens often enough.
There may be a way to get some lip sync to work through extended function in a plugin, I don't know.

I will be surprised if it is not possible to lip sync as Zabaware sells the Cheri character. We will see.

I solved the problem. In the speech window you have numerous voices to choose. Crystal has two options. One says SAPI 5 and the other does not say what SAPI version it is. I had picked SAPI 5 which does not have a lip sync action. By picking the other Crystal voice with no SAPI version, the lip sync works. This must be SAPI version 4.

If i remember correctly, msagent is only used with sapi4.
att voices usually come with a sapi4 and sapi5 version(as you have noticed).
there are some other voices, which are not sapi4 or sapi5 compatible, but have their own engine. those voices usually will not support lip sync either.

as a side note:
does anyone know how to send haptek player lines of text to read?
outside or inside UltraHal?
-thanks
-
HalCommands = "<HAPTEXT>Q [ Jason is very smart.] </HAPTEXT>"
The "<HAPTEXT>" command allows one line of code to be read by Haptek.
I think... never tried it.[:D]

thanks dude...will give her a go

Does anybody have a list of HAPTEXT commands?
Thanks.
