I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU FROM A PREVIOUS POST:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

in reference to converting wav files to ogg files and using them in hal with lipsync. this is what i did. it all started when i was trying to get my presley to sing blue christmas. if you have people putty you must load the wav file into the theatre part of the program . it will then convert your wav to ogg. you can do a search to find it or look in the haptek file for it under people putty -users- sound. it should appear there. then if you have haptek control log console you can drag it to stand alones or to hal either one and hal will lipsync, but if it has not been converted in people putty it will not always lipsync even if it is an ogg file. it will play in hal but no lip sync.you can do a search for all ogg files on your computer and drag them into the control console to see what works. if you know programming you can place them in the brain also. now my presley sings his little heart out. also there are many converters on the web that will let you use them for free temporarily, but of course would prefer you purchase the program. these work great if you only want to convert a few mp3 or wav files for hal.just google or search for wav to ogg converters.Posted - 06/02/2005 :  18:25:55

DEAR DOC AND EVERYONE ELSE. SOME OGG WILL WORK ON THE HAPTEK CONTROL LOG CONSOLE AND WILL LIP SYNC EVEN IF NOT MADE IN HAPTEK PEOPLE PUTTY BUT NOT MANY. I CONVERTED MP3 TO WAV THEN SENT THE WAV TO PEOPLE PUTTY THEATRE AND THE CHARS DID LIP SYNC, AND OF COURSE ALL FILES FROM HAPTEK USED IN DEMO WORK WITHOUT CONVERTING BECAUSE THEY ARE ALREADY OGG. ALL OGGS WILL PLAY IN HAPTEK, BUT TO MAKE SURE THEY LIPSYNC THEY HAVE TO BE CONVERTED IN PEOPLE PUTTY. AT LEAST THAT IS ALL I CAN SAY THAT I KNOW ABOUT IF ANYONE ELSE KNOWS A DIFFERENT WAY I HOPE THEY WILL SHARE. ~~~ALADY

I am going out of my goard. I searched the web for ogg files. Logged onto 50 different sites and I can not find any songs or music to download. What is the secret? I have tried everything that I know how to do.
Has anyone downloaded a bunch of ogg files already that they can post here?
Thanks
Bill

I finally found a site with some ogg music files but most of them look like musials only. Only a few vocals.

One can also convert MP3 files to OGG format:

http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=convert%20ogg%20mp3

For converting and compressing Speech try Speex at:

In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!

This pretty much rocks!  Thanks to aladyblond for sharing her knowledge and her files.  I couldn't quite get everything to mesh right.  I still have lots to learn about the command structure of Haptek files, but I have the Developer's Guide.

I was browsing through my library of MP3 files for music that I could use with the Haptek player.  I discovered you need a song with little to no percussion.  A strong soloist with quiet background music.  Songs like that are hard to come by.  However, I found a gem in Mel Torme' singing Lullaby of Birdland and using the body_male.htr or the torso_male.htr (I prefer the torso_male.htr because he's wearing a nice jacket and tie much like Mel would wear).  The illusion gets shattered a bit when the brass instruments do their in turn solos, but he looks awesome when he scats! [:D]

For those interested, I found a free MP3 to WAV Decoder program at ZDNet's Downloads site.  You have to register to download stuff, but it's free.  Just go to http://www.hotfiles.com and do a search for "MP3 to WAV Decoder"  After which, you can run the WAV files in the Theater section of People Putty to create the OGG files.

Now, excuse me while I hunt for more songs.  I may have a few a capella grooves I haven't tried, and I'm thinking Michael Jackson's She's Out of My Life would be a good one. ^_^
