Maybe if you explained yourself a little better someone could creat a plugin to make it so.
I have been a Hal user ever since it was first created and I have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / GRETTA PLUGINS
« on: July 09, 2010, 03:54:42 am »
I have not tried to use the new Hal 6.2 or any of the plug-ins but I did have some information about the "Timer" function. It can only be used once or else you will get errors. That means that it can only be called or used only once. Haven't examined the new Hal I can say that this is your problem but it sure sounds like it. The Timer command is a function not a regualer VB token or command thus it can only be implemented once or else it fails. I don't know if this is the problem but it is then that would explain the problem.

General Discussion / hal with eye sight and face tracking, etc.
« on: July 06, 2010, 10:56:59 pm »
I really investigate facial recognition software several yeaars ago. I found one that did a fair job but it had its limitations. For instance you put on a red shirt and have Hal recognize you every time it sees you, but then the next day you wear a blue shirt, guess what Hal would not know who you were. If Hal could only recoggnize your face alone it might work better unless on one day you had your hair combed very neatly and the next is was all messed up. I know that the government software has overcome this obsticle but don't think it available to the public. It is commenly used at all air ports and a few other places and has been around for many years now, however, if someone wants to dwelve into this I will be gald to assist in some way if I can.

a program that can track a face and recognize a face or shape of one , and hopefully know colors etc. it would be so cool for hal to randomly notice the color shirt you have on and say something about it or when you move in your chair to one side hals character would turn his or her head  and look your way at you and .
OK, i am done dreaming for a while but i do hope Robert keeps something like this in mind for hals future !

I have3 seen some face recognition software in the psat and believe me it is huge and not all that accurate. It would be nice but I don't believe it would be practible to intergrate with Hal. I hope some one can prove me wrong.

i will keep checking and if what i did didn't work i will start checking other plug ins (i guess thats what you are referring to , right? )
thanks for writing by the way ![:)]

It sounds like you assigned the wrong type of variable to one of your statements. I have seen this happen many times in the past. It is easy to to make that kind of mistake. Also by not inserting the right spaces between variables can also make that kind of error.

Speech Technology / Microphone Link Wanted
« on: June 30, 2010, 01:57:58 am »
One more little suggestion about your new mic. I would advise you to find one that is directional. Regular mics tend to pick up all the surrounding sounds, ie. fans, airconditioners, etc. When I recommended a blue tooth mic I did not necessarily mean a wireless one, I just remember reading somewhere that a USB mic seems to work pretty good.
Good luck with you quest.

Hello, I'm looking for a good quality usb headset w/microphone and earphone. Can anyone recomend some links for me and others? Was thinking about wireless but that seems to add about $200 or more to the price tag. There are so many links out there, in all price ranges I would like to find out what others are using and how you rate them, promise not to hold you responsible if not satisfied.[:)]

Just locate a good Blue Tooth head set and it should work just fine.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Microphone setting and Voice training not working

I have email several inquiries to zabaware and no one has responded. I find this upsetting. it is apparent that others are having the same problem. No one will respond from zaberware and from what i have read on this post the information is not helpful. i am surprised that that Robert will not address the issue that seems to be occuring for recent customers.

please provide some advice as to what may be causing the problem and a possible fix. I feel like I have been cheated.

Being that speach recodnition works for a great many other people I suggest you keep experiementing with you own computers system controls. I have been using Hal for about 10 years now give or take a few.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal 5 to Hal 6 - .brn to Plugin help?
« on: June 10, 2010, 12:31:48 pm »
Well someone who has done some Hal research. The problem that I have is that I can not get Hal 6.2 to even run on my system so trying to add a plugin is not possible. I did make several small changes to Hal 5.0 but I oould not have have done so without Vonsmith's examples. Once I understood what and how he hacked it, it became fairly easy for me to make some small improvements. In one version I even gave Hal the ability to sing songs. But I have no knowledge of how the new Hal works or even where to tgry to add to it.

What a pleasant supprise to hear from you once again. It as been a very long time since you created your version of the XTF Hal brain and I had fun adding little functions to it. I hope you stick around for some time to come. Between Robert and you we made som nice additions to Hal and I hope it continues again.

Several years ago a member did get Hal to use X10 and quite successfully if I remember correctly. IF you do a search available in the upper right hand corner you may be able to locate that information. I am just not sure how many years of information is kept there.

If I remember corretly X10 requifres some remote devices connected to each device that you want to be able to control via voice commands. I am sure it has been done, it is jsut that it may have been a little to advance for most users here.

The human body as well as most other animals really runs on electricity. The human brain generates 20 watts of current and the rest of the body requires between .1 and .2 amps. If I remember correctly the human heart needs .144 amps to keep beating and most of the rest of our organs have their own special needs.
