i have hal 5, but am thinking of splurging on hal 6. can i keep both or do i have to uninstal hal 5 first?

I don't know.
but i saw after 6.1 how Hal hit his stride for me anyway, the 6.2 is well ahead of my old 5 for me.
Yeah sorry i don't know wether 5 would auto merge right through to 6.2 either,
 or if you can transplant halbrain file or not.

I believe that normally, Hal will ask for the removal of the previous version.

In the past, however, I simply moved Hal (and reinstalled) into a different
folder (different name instead of the default).

There have been previous postings on merging brains but the latest brain
really combines the best of the best.

Like Will mentioned, the latest version of Hal really surpasses any of the previous
versions. (Gosh...imagine that!)  ;D ;)

I did same as Art and had both in operation.  (but can't have both open at same time)
But 5 don't really compare and I deleted it after a few months.
