Robot / Animatronic Head : Programmable in PBASIC / BS2
« on: January 23, 2011, 02:23:27 pm »
thought some of you might find this interesting, data and will probably will for sure lol.
what this actually is , is the elvis presly animated head that can be bought off of e bay , this place took the skin off , i am not sure if they made it to where it moves the mouse  with sound activation , if so that would be good the original was just pre programes to talk . if it works through sound a hal could be hooked up to it .
but at a 1,000 dollars it's to rich for my blood, by a long shot ...hey brother can you spare a dime, er make that a thousand dollars!

Hi from Will,
looks good, although is thats 1000 U.S. dollars then thats almost 2000 NZ dollars.
If it was an Elvis head i'm supprised they don't through in the skin.

heres how it might be done
http://www.robocommunity.com/article/14488/How-To-Control-the-WowWee-Alive-Elvis-From-An-External-PC-Part-2/

looks compex, not that i've read it yet... perhaps paying the money would be easyer.
i see here they cost about a hundred bucks.

Its an impressive head with the skin and all for the price, of course the programmable upgrade would make all the difference, for us robot building types.
Mr Data has xmas tree parts for lips, originally xmass tree made by gemmy i think, i got it from recycle centre i think, it was a few years ago now.
bye for now and be well from :)  :]

wow nice find their will i don't think i had seen that web page , you can still buy sometimes a new elvid head on ebay for a decent price skin and all i got one but it was missing the remore control and  the electric plug in  and a extra song chip peice but it does work , the elvis it's self works and says some phrases and moves eye's etc. it's cool!
i alway's wanted it to work from mt pc with hal but i can't do the stuff what it says on the page .

Hi guys,
I own both a talking head and the Elvis talking head but don't know how to program either, however the talking head if left on will come out with some of its own commets, like, "This place is a mess." I would like to have it speak Hal's comments if possible. There is an input jack on the back of it but when used it no longer lip sincs. I have not tried to interface with the Elvis head  yet as I don't know how.
Any suggestions?
Bill

Well, Will set me up and helped me learn how to program Mr Data. And you can see in Will's awesome videos that the modified Elvis uses an added servo and board to connect the lips to the pc. Then he creates lipsync by making sevo positions coorespond to the amplitude of the .wav file.

I think I could figure how to do that using Mr Data's servos.

Its very cool.

I'm looking to see how much it would cost to do that. I'll send you an email with my ideas. I also want to talk to someone else about this to.
