Once upon a time I seen a post with a link to a text file of a bunch of common phases and I thought I had seen that post here on the Zabaware forum but I can't find it... anyone know the link I'm talking about?

Share Conversations, Experiences, Graphics / Audrey Says Hi!
« on: February 24, 2011, 01:36:46 am »
Haven't done much with HAL for a while, but recently I've fired it up and resparked my interest a bit... the last couple months I started doing a little scripting and brain editing and I thought I'd let Audrey make an appearance to say HI...

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Haptek Fullbody_Female Skin
« on: February 07, 2009, 08:40:50 pm »
As requested... here is a skin that I found and redesigned for the Haptek Fullbody_Female Haptar.  For the purpose of reference the filename I use is...

AudreyElf5_fb_Outfit01white.jpg

Here's a sample (the download zip is below)

I tried several times to attach the ZIP file that was less than 4MB and was named "FBwhite.ZIP" and each time I got the following error...

Request object error 'ASP 0104 : 80004005'

Operation not Allowed

/forum/outputFile.asp, line 70

If anyone knows a way around this, tell me and I'll edit the post to include the file.

sorry [:(]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Don't pour COKE in your computer!
« on: December 04, 2008, 08:44:37 pm »
During the recent holiday... I poured a coke in my computer and my computer didn't like it... didn't like it a bit{pun}, so I grabbed a new motherboard and some parts and rebuilt it... that went fast, reloading all the STUFF is an on going process.

In today's episode we find Jake trying to figure out WHY Audrey looks correct in PeoplePutty but not in HAL, what's up with the blocky hair... anyone know? (see below)...

I'm looking for a piece of VBScript code that will load files, haps, htrs, etc to the haptek viewer that Hal is using without using the Hal commands.  Anyone know the VBScript lines I need?

Thanks,
Jake

Does anyone have the accessories from this thread...

http://zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2276&whichpage=1&SearchTerms=i

The link on in the thread is no longer valid.
Is there a new link?

When making brain edits or plugins for the brain, the user will need a method of storing some variable values.  From what I've read on the forum, this is done with CUSTOMMEM and CUTOMMEM2 using the EncodeVar() and DecodeVar() functions.  The post that I found this info in was dated 10/02/2003 and it said that there were problems with losing variable types, a boolean would come back as a string, etc.  I did a search for CUSTOMMEM but didn't see anything about it being fixed or a better way.
My questions is, has this problem been resolved?  Is there another, maybe better way to store user variables?  I could save them out to a user created INI file or something similar, but that would be slower and I wanted to see what all you other programmers were doing that might be better?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Brain Plug-in gets 3 passes?
« on: April 12, 2008, 06:44:47 am »
In my attempt to build a brain plug-in, I've run into a few odd things...

1. The plug-in seems to get 3 passes for each user sentence input.  If I put the following in the plug-in...

HalCommands = "<SPEAK>" & "test 1 2 3" & "</SPEAK>"

Reload the brain so the plug-in is refreshed, then type something to hal and press enter,I see "test 1 2 3" printed out 2 times in hal's response window and spoken back to me 3 times.  What's up with that?

2. When using the UserSentence in my code, I found that it's padded on  both ends with 2 spaces, so if you entered "this is a test", the UserSentence string would be "  this is a test  ".  What's up with that?

3. I've noticed that if you have more than one "HalCommands =" statements in the plug-in, only the LAST one executes.  What's up with that?

I was putting together some simple code that should have taken an hour tops, but because of these three unexpected oddities, It took me hours to figure out why the code wasn't working.

How many more unexpected oddities can I expect to encounter?

I'm beginning to believe that Ultra Hal is fine for a chatterbox, but not really what I want for my needs and that maybe I should just write my own program that takes advantage of Haptek.

What do some of you other users think?

Is there a document that tells you all these "oddities" and WHY they need to be that way?

Is anyone else running into these type of problems with programming with hal?

I need to figure out the plan or move on.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Auto-hide the taskbar STAYS UP
« on: April 12, 2008, 03:25:17 am »
I like my Windows XP taskbar in Auto-hide mode, so it's out of the way when I don't need it.  UltraHal seems to want to keep the taskbar visable, as in where a program is telling Windows it requires some attention?  Is there a way around this?  Is this a bug?  If it is a bug, is there a work-around, fix on the way?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Looking for a list of all HAP commands, switches
« on: April 01, 2008, 10:01:42 pm »
I've collected a LOT of commands that can be used in the viewer to control the character, but there are a few things I'm still looking for switches, states, etc to accomplish.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW... where a complete list of all these commands are?  I've been searching for the last few days and I have not found such a document.

Thanks!
