Ultra Hal 7.0 / Bluetooth anyone?
« on: June 14, 2005, 07:05:46 pm »
I'll see what the total fallout is later, but I removed SP2 and it works!! Thanks for your urging. I guess I knew I could uninstall it, but I didn't really think I should until I saw your post and looked at the link.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Bluetooth anyone?

Funny you should say that as I just started updating my Windows again. However, I am seriously going to consider what you say. I keep seaching for headsets for the PC but come up dry. I really felt this Bluetooth was for the birds, but the geek in me keeps wanting to give it another chance.
Thanks,

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Bluetooth anyone?

I noticed that someone said they used Bluetooth headsets for HAL. I bought an earpiece with mike, only to find out that it has issues with Service Pack 2. I don't want full blown headphones, and would like something with a mike. Does anyone have any suggestions on a brand known to work with Windows? The place I got my logitech from updated their info, removing the Windows compatibility statement from about all the earpieces.
Thanks.

Maybe it had a hiccup. It quit doing it before I ever checked how it was set, but thanks for this response as well.

And again, thank you for this answer. I can quit bugging the board about updates because this is as simple as it gets. I made a shortcut to my desktop so I don't even have to type in the DOS.

Sorry this took so long to get back in here, but your suggestion here worked just fine, thanks. Never realized that the switch might be doing it. Thanks, much.

Good programs for making and changing graphics are always expensive. I would definite recommend Paint Shop Pro if it was not rather expensive. Maybe you should try to buy an older version from Ebay if you are familiar with those things.

A good viewer for all kinds of picture files is Irfanview, which is freeware (http://www.irfanview.com/). You cannot really paint with Irfanview, but you must always have a small program for quick examining of all kind of files.

The template Art was talking about is part of the Haptek-SDK (once installed: "C:Program FilesHaptekHaptekGuide4MakinContentadvanced   extures"). You should download that guide anyway.

Wow, someone else knows about irfanview. That is one of the first programs I install on any new PC. No time for paintshop to load up and that stupid MS Fax viewer thingy does things I don't like.

Why in HEAVEN'S name do I keep getting a popup telling me that plug ins are available at the zabaware site? I have already been there and done that. Is there any way to disable this? It is annoying as all get out!

When I type into HAL, sometimes it seems to take my text and run with it. Sometimes, even a simple "Define <word>" gets entered before I type the word part, meaning I get some silly response to the word "define."
Is there some sort of program that might interfere with this? Is it simply a quirk? I can't find any settings that should cause it.
Thanks.

Speech Technology / Neospeech voices don't save
« on: May 24, 2005, 03:06:06 pm »
Worse yet, I just discovered that the Kate voice does not work with other applications, so instead of using wave pad to generate the file I am stuck with the method of live recording. That would take 12-20 hours to do a book as opposed to a couple hours with something else. It also forces me to mute or close other programs which might pop up with sounds. I do hope some of this can get fixed in the near future.
