I tried OTCE 's  learn from text plug and the learn from clipboard plug but what I really want is a way to take a text  file {of short properly punctuated sentences} and have hal read it and convert it to one of his formated tables . Just a quick formating of a text file. Even if it only filled one column of the table would be ok. When I look at the amazingly complex vb script that makes this software come to life , it seems  this task would involve only a few lines of  code. Would it be against the rules to do so ? If not I will pay someone for their time to help me.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Misleading advertising
« on: November 13, 2006, 03:41:35 pm »
At Zabaware home page       {http://www.zabaware.com/home.html}

is a heading   {Ultra Hal Assistant 6.0}    under that heading are the links

Information  {http://www.zabaware.com/assistant/index.html]

Download Now {http://www.zabaware.com/download.asp}

Purchase {http://www.zabaware.com/products/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=1}

Documentation  {http://www.zabaware.com/assistant/help/index.htm}

The “Documentation” link CLAIMS Hal can learn from a text file! I read that statement before I bought this product.

If hal 6 can not do as the “documentation” subtitle under “HAL 6.0” clearly states THEN
PLEASE REMOVE AS THIS IS FALSE AND MISLEADING ADVERTISING.

Teaching Hal By Loading Text Files Directly Into Him

You can have Hal read text files with the .txt file format and then the actual data contained within the text file will be loaded directly into Hal's brain. This method is a very fast way of teaching Hal new things but Hal still learns better by just talking to him. The data that gets loaded into Hal from a text file automatically gets processed into a format that Hal can read and understand. This new data then becomes permanent knowledge within his brain which he can then recall upon and use later during future conversations. To have Hal learn from a text file you just need to select the "Learn from text file..." option from Hal's menu and then select a .txt file, and then finally click the "Start Learning" button to begin the fully automated learning process.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Accessing tables?
« on: November 07, 2006, 05:35:12 pm »
With Hal5 I could explore the workings of the brain by typing a nonsense word such as
TREEEFRROGG  to hal , then search the Zabbaware folder's contents for that original word
and explore the file or files it had appeared in. Does Hal6 utilize VB ? If I open the files in word pad I can't seem to get a glimpse of the “tables” only thousands of symbols with areas of coherent text scattered throughout the files tried
 VBSedit  but it doesn't want to open any of the hal6 files as they are not .vbs.
As the brain editor is without help files or any directions it's not helping me much. Even with Hal5 I never used the brain editor but I had fun extrapolating the use of each brn file and customizing them to a great degree.    Anyone willing to indulge a nubee here ?

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Bot talks to bot on one pc ?
« on: November 07, 2006, 05:34:40 am »
I spent 100 hours or so playing with the .brn and other files of Hal 4 and Hal 5 back in 2003 but I am ready to take up the hobby again with Hal 6.
Would it be possible to get a version of Hal 6 to talk to my old version of
Hal5 ? Could anyone here walk me through it ? Could both programs talk to each other while running on one computer ?   Or could an ALICE bot talk to a Hal6 bot both on the same pc ? If this involves the use of “aim bot” I have been unable to find any help file or even a description of what an aim bot is.
I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts here and hope to contribute though VB is not my strong point.   Thanks for any reply.    H. H.
