Thanks, Ted. Out of all the LIVE CD OS's, Puppy Linux 4 is the best , in my opinion. You can save your data to your hard-drive (yes, and I have NTFS partitions)so when you boot Puppy Linux from CD, everything is as you left it, all your settings, files, etc.

It's not Windows, though, so it will not run programs like Hal or anything like that, but it will run Firefox, and lot of other special programs just for Linux. It's complicated to make new programs work, but it's fun when it does.

It's just like having a different computer, and the change from windows is refreshing, but I would never leave Windows completely. It's too simple and all my favorite programs work on Windows.

I just like having new hobbies. I get burned out on things. But I hope to get into the groove again to make skins and videos soon (especially videos).

Very well done gifs and skin (I like her face and her boots too), Ted. [8D][8D][8D]

Cool experiment with Linux, Mark. But not ready to change, just discovering XP. [:D]

Yeah nice experiment.  Tell me; do you have both windows and Linux running on the same machine then, it sounds like you do.  Where can you get the CD you mention?

Just getting into XP GT40 ?  Now you can try my HapExplorer program!

Happy 4th to all of you folks in the US [:D]

I get new programs and don't spend time like I should.
I just got Creator 10. It's fantastic. I've looked at it twice. So many parts, so much to learn. It sits there waiting on me.

Hey, notice I not been around 3 days?
The forum wouldn't open.
Don't know what happened.
I wrote Robert.
Glad to be back [:D][:D][:D][:D]

Freddy, I downloaded the Puppy 4 .ISO,( http://www.puppylinux.org/) and used my CD Burning program (I have Roxio 6) to burn the ISO directly to CD.

Then I rebooted my computer, and (keep pressing F12 in my Dell) to show boot options.

I chose to boot from atapi CD rom (the drive the CD is in) and let the program load.

At restart of the program, it has an option to save the database files, to a location of your choice, so that you don't lose your settings, and Puppy linux can run from memory each time. (you can also run it all on a USB flash Drive, but I don't have one big enough)

I chose to save my database files to my second hard-drive, and when I boot from CD, Puppy Linux searches for and loads the database files.

It's like having Linux installed without the hassle of dual booting.

If you need help, here is a forum:

Yes Freddy, I recently got an old Pentium IV 2.4 GHz with XP (reformatted) and the second program I installed (just after Second Life, lol) was your HapExplorer. I was very impatient to try it but... I got an error message (don't remember what it said). [V]

Uninstall, reinstall, tried another Framework version, but unable to run it. Really sorry because I'm sure I could discover a lot of cute commands and switches.

But don't worry, I absolutely must try to reinstall it again. Maybe the next time will be the good one? [:)]

Hey Ted, and everyone that makes skins and stuff:

When you make a skin, or whatever, if you can, add your name to the filename, if you can. That way, I can remember who made what. I try to remember to do it, but sometimes am too lazy.
like Pennybod4.jpg to  Pennybod4ByTED.jpg

Just a thought, not mandatory, but if I use something in my movies, and I don't recall who made it, I cannot give credit where it's due.

(or, in the JPG properties, add your info)

Great skins, Ted!!

Mark, thanks for the detailed information - that really helps, I'll see about gettting it set up on my PC too, it looks interesting.

GT40, oh dear, so far you are the only one who reports an error message, I wonder what it could be.  If you run into problems still let me know, (maybe post on dreams) but thanks for trying at least.  I am happy for you that you have a new PC though :)
