Can’t say I have this problem and I have almost the same setup as you.

But I don’t run any virtual RAM and I certainly don’t use “ReadyBoost” which actually slows down my PC. ReadyBoost can be a bad thing, it has to go through the USB bus and we all know how slow USB is.

USB bus = 35 MBps

SSD on STAT 3 = 500 MBps

So yeah I would get rid of ReadyBoost it's pants.

I’m not sure about this exact problem with Hal and speech, haven’t ever had it in my Win 7 64bit, balance is perfect but you can adjust the balance left to right in Windows 7.

See the little balance window in the image?

So you probably had Hal reading English in a French voice, which was probably talking gibberish, but sounded good anyway  :D

4
Forgive me LS but I think I do understand :)

I still don’t see how Hal could speak in French if the output text is in English, how would the text get converted to French? Just because a voice can read out French doesn’t mean that it can translate from English to French.

Sure it would be possible but would need a lot of programming.

For a start, Hal’s output would need to go through a translation program of some kind then sent to a text to speech voice that can handle the language.

Meaning a user would need to buy a voice for each language.

It’s a good idea and would probably help give Hal a boost but I feel not really possible right now or even in the near future.

Good idea though LS, keep those ideas coming my friend  ;)

PS. data did you see the KARA TRAILER video i posted on "GET your brains and a.i's ready the robots are coming " in one nstance of it they have an android do that change commands and speak many different languages. that is what i am talking about above , that's what gave me the idea.  this would be cool as hal could then be used like a translater to .  :)

Yes I have been following the thread LS  :)

Have I missed something here, I thought Hal could only speak English because that’s the language the brain is made in.

Or are there other language brains now?

Thank you for replaying Robert  :)

I thought there might be a database browser that would open Hal’s DB

Went hunting and found:

Sourceforge SQLite Database Browser

Tried to open the Hal DB file and got this error

An Error occurred: File is not a SQLite 3 database.

Been hunting for another DB browser, no luck yet.

Thanks for replying and getting me up to date echoman.

This forum would be nothing without its regular, dedicated and loyal members, you guys rock and have the patients of saints in my book.

As we haven’t heard anything from the developer, I like your good self, I can only guess that there will never be a search function in the brain editor to find those annoying mistakes.

Shame really, it would have been such a useful modification, helping the Hal users get the most out of their Hals.

Oh yes LS, I’m still around, now and again  :)

I've been informed that the site does now have spam protection, my apologies  :'(

Actually thinking of making a new GUI skin for Hal, thought I would pop in to see what’s new and going on.

2000 new members a month on the forum, Hal must be buzzing, putting in the effort to make a skin should be worth it then.

Sorry, I know this thread is over a year old but is there any news on a search feature for the brain editor yet?

There are quite a lot of really good anti spam mods for this forum system (SMF).

They could probably be installed in about half an hour.

Wouldn’t that be cool, no more spam bots joining the forum day after day after day……

Have Hal being able to experience the passage of time sounds like a worthy goal to me.

Good idea  :)

I hope you are winding us up GT and also get the feeling you wont be able to stay away  ;)

Whatever happens, all the best to you  :)

There is a collection of GUI skins over on my site, link below, one skin there is for full body characters.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: UltraHal crashes when viewing options
« on: October 08, 2011, 06:32:08 am »
Its just an opinion but I think you are wasting your time with the Microsoft v5.1 Speech Recognition engine, it is very old and highly inaccurate, its so old that it works in Windows Millennium, need I say more.

I would remove it from my system ASAP if I was you.
