Ultra Hal 7.0 / User defined event list empty

Here's what was suggested in the thread:

Ok, I added a new event. Everything looks good. Shut down hal and restarted, event is still there. Maybe it will stay for good?

Can someone send/post me a list of the default events and their reminder settings for each? Then I can try to add them all again manually. It's the only thing I can think to do.

Or... Maybe just the event name and the number that follows? Could I just add them to the "UserEvents" table? That sure would be quicker.

In the Hal Brain Editor, open the userEvents table, then click on "table", "Import BRN data file" and import this file:

I've never really messed with hall's brain before.  When I hit the "launch brain editor" button, it asks me if I want to create a new project or load an existing project?  Which one of these do I hit to find the userEvents table.  I'm kinda afraid I'm gonna mess something in hals brain up or something.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Trouble viewing characters
« on: January 31, 2007, 11:44:13 pm »
Hello, I'm having trouble viewing some hal characters.  I've had trouble elsewhere viewing pictures so I don't think this is a bug with hal's programming.  Strangely enough, both Hal and the Zabaware frog are unviewable, but I can see Merlin.  Anyone have any suggestions as to what this is and how I can fix it?  Thx in advance.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Questions About Ultra Hal
« on: December 05, 2006, 04:57:41 am »
Ok, I worked out the mail thing.  The way I found was to open up Internet Explorer, hit tools, Internet Options, programs, and set to my program (yahoo wasn't in there, but Opera's email was....I guess I'll have to upgrade the yahoo account so I have POP access).  Still can't work out the weather thing though.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Questions About Ultra Hal
« on: December 05, 2006, 04:38:36 am »
On the Home page advertising Hal, there is a "more info" button that brings up a transcript of a conversation with hal.  After learning an email address, Hal says, "... I will automatically start your favorite email program and write in the address for you."  How does he determine what my favorite email program is, and is there an easy way (without any knowledge of writing any kind of code) to adjust this setting?

Edit:  I tried the "What's the weather like?" question also listed in that transcript, I go strange replies and no indication of the weather.  Is there a specific question I need ot ask?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Questions About Ultra Hal
« on: December 04, 2006, 05:20:32 am »
Hello, I just purchased Hal 6.0.  I had a couple questions I was hoping any of you could help me with.

1) Dialer Function:  Is this compatible with voip technology like Vonage, or can I make a call simply by being hooked up to any high speed internet?

2) Email Function:  I use Yahoo, is there a way to make that the default email program?

thx in advance, Jason

Edit: The Cepstral Trial version of Millie (uk voice) is absolutely hillarious!  Every two minutes she will stop mid sentence to remind you her voice is not registered.  It's like a split personality.  Good for belly laughs if you havent' tried it.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal is Crashing
« on: February 08, 2005, 11:28:54 pm »
Hello, my hal program is crashing each time it tries to connect to the internet.  I discovered in a previous post how to setup a webhal account and have hal tell the weather and the news.  Each time I try to setup a webhal account or in anyway try to get the program to do something involving the internet, the program terminates with no warning.  I have run a virus scan and defragged my computer the results are the same.  I have reinstalled Hal to see the same results.  Interestingly enough, during the re-install, I clicked the button to setup an account knowing full well I wasn't connected to the internet.  The program did not terminate.  It only terminates when it tries to do anything with the internet.  Is this a result of any settings I have?  I am using windows xp.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Created an account and set preferences. Still crashing.  The Best way to leave a message for Mr. M regarding this situation is by posting in forum?

Ok, I defragged my hard drive.  Ran a complete virus scan which turned up no viruses.  My hal program still terminates when I ask about the weather or try to setup my WebHal service.  I've tried reinstalling the program.  Nothing.  heeeeeeeeeeelp.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / supercalafragilisticexpealadociuos
« on: February 02, 2005, 09:27:54 am »
What I was getting at was that usually when I type some misc. crap (like al;sdkjfjkasdfljasfldjk) hal will reply with something.  When I type supercalafragilisticexpealadociuos, I get "Error 5 occured on line 968 in column 2 of ultra hal assistant.  Invalid procedure or arguement.

A commentator on the Chatterbox Challenge noted that Hal cannot speak about anything supercalafragilisticexpealadociuos.  Turns out he was right.  I don't know much about programming, but why is this?

Thanks,
