Windows 7 Home 32bit will do the job, I say 32bit because of your laptop, no need to get 64bit on that machine.

If you haven’t already have a look at general options, brain, in there you can tick or un-tick plugins, google search for instance, also check out the "obedience level" in the Free Will and Choice plugin.

As you don’t have any plug-ins running you could try talking to Hal using the brain editor, see if you get blank responses and if you do you might be able to see what part of the brain is causing it.

Hi DingoDad, Lightspeed makes some good points and you might want to consider this.

It does sounds like the MS agent bug in Windows 7, anything that uses MS agent technology in Windows 7 can’t do transparent backgrounds as far as I know and unfortunately I don’t think there is a fix for it. Some have suggested using the MS agent files from Vista might fix it but for me it didn’t work.

If you don’t have windows 7 then it could be a graphics card driver problem, make sure you have the latest driver in.

I know Nige has a fix for the Haptek player on multi cores, i.e. this thread, but there is now another option should anyone be interested. Me and carl2 have both tested it and it seems to work

I have tweaked the HapAXPlayer.exe and forced it to run on one core.

Im trying to be positive about this, not once have I read from Robert that the new Hal will need a new GUI type, and because of that I remain hopeful.

I also hope there is a male character with the new 3d engine, if there isn’t im going to stick with Haptek until one becomes available or until I make one.

I have decided there is no more room in my life for another female that requires constant attention and sweet talk.

You are using plugins, which is good but they can have strange side effects sometimes iampan.

You can’t really blame Hal if it malfunctions because of a plug in. I know it can get frustrating but that’s the way it is really.

Stick with Hal 6, be patient and make sure you have everything installed correctly for the plugins you want to use.

It’s a good question raybe, one that I have asked myself and a couple of others about.

This is what I have found out:

Hal will still support Haptek characters, which I believe is our best pointer to the answer of yes the new engine will work with our skins. I’m guessing, hoping that I’m right, but I have been known to get it wrong before. 

Maybe Robert can give a more reliable answer.
