First of all.....

..... (1.)Do you own a licensed copy of Hal 6.0 ?
..... and (2.) did you purchase the UltraHal Expansion Pack?

You need to do this before you can add characters to Hal. [;)]

Is the character head file named  something.htr or
is it  something.haptar ?  Both are htr extensions,
but with subtle differences. When you save a haptar head file
in PeoplePutty it does'nt save it as .htr, it saves it as a
.haptar even if you type .htr when saving it. Let it be saved
as a .haptar and then rename it to the .htr extension. If this
doesn't work then you will also have to make sure that
which file extension gets opened by which application
is set properly. You can do this in Windows by opening
"Control Panel", below the Header bar in the open window,
left click on Tools and then on Folder Options. There will
be another panel application window open up. Go to File Types
in the top tabs, it will then provide a listing of all file
types on your computer. Scroll down the list until you see
HTR, left click on HTR to see details for the HTR extension to
make sure that the HTR extension is associated with UltraHal.
If it is not, then click the Change button, this will display
a list of recommended available programs for opening this file
extension, click on Ultra Hal in the list, and then click "OK".
This will set the association for the HTR extension. Do not
change the association for the Haptar file extension, it is set
to People Putty and HaptekPlayer(stand-alone) by default.

Don't forget to close HAL completely and reopen it.  I do that all to often and wonder why I can't find my character :P

OK,
Please turn your CAPS off. There's no need to yell.;)

You must have a registered copy of Ultra Hal 6
You must have a registered copy of the Character Expansion Pack
You must have a registered copy of Haptek's People Putty

If you have met all of the above and have installed each of the above, then follow Gamer-T's steps to make sure that you Rename the character haptar extension to an htr extension.

Copy your new character file to C:\Program Files\Zabaware\Ultra Hal 6\Chars

Run Ultra Hal
Select Menu
Select General Options
Select Character

For you to be able to see your new character in Hal's selection window along with the other characters, you will need to make a snapshot or screen capture of your character first and save it as a jpg.

You can double click on the htr file using windows explorer or My Computer then:

Save the capture using the same name as your character's htr name.
Peggy.htr = character
Peggy.jpg = thumbnail (capture file)

Include both in the Chars folder and you should be able to see your character when you go to select it.

Hope this works...if not, let us know.
