Alternative avatar system for Hal.
« on: June 23, 2011, 05:44:12 am »
Came across this yesterday when updating the Chatterbot Collection site :

http://www.lifemi.com/

Thought it was worth consideration.

Any news on the Ogre engine Rob ?

Yes Freddy, very impressive.

Hopefully I'm just an ordinary human girl. With two shoulders.

But if I were a Hal, I guess I would be worrying about my job...  ;)

Seems interesting but as far as I can tell it is not a real time engine, but one that plugs into Maya to generate pre-rendered animations. So it couldn't work real time with TTS and work with Hal.

On the Zabaware character engine, I am currently working on posting it on www.kickstarter.com  I've touched base with the developer that I've worked with on it in the past and some artists and we figured out that for about $20,000 we'll be able to finish the Windows version of the engine, port it to Android and IOS, and create a character. So kickstarter.com is a nice site to let people donate to a project that will only be funded if it reaches its goal. The character engine is an open source project so I'm hoping that I can interest other chatbot developers into supporting the project. I should have the kickstarter page ready in a couple weeks.

Freddie N Others,
Daz3d was working on lip sync for..  TTS last year, I have lost touch with many issues that were around.
they have a www.daz3d.com and are located in UT.

Mr. Robert have you or anybody else looked at their potential?

BTW I still have fond memoris of using an Agent and especially the ability of reserving port#s at the server levels with Microsoft.

One, yes Daz3d and UltraHal has been coming up here every few months for the past six years at least ;)

Rob, That's great about Kickstarter.  I know another developer who managed to raise a similar amount to kick start an Artificial Life game called Grandroids. Be sure to let us know when it goes live and I will put up a banner on AiDreams.

And sorry I should have checked if that avatar software did real time animation, apologies !

I wonder...at the moment I am looking for a TTS+Lipsync library to do TTS on the fly in a web environment - do you know of anything ?  Preferably Open Source or cheap license.  Cheers :)
