Raybe,

Thanks for the file.  Seems there might be a bug in it or in Hal's main code it doesn't work on my Hal.  Not too sure what the issue is with the PLUGIN area for MINUTE_TIMER is but seems to have a problem on different computers.  I wrote a clock timer and it works ok on my computer, so does the new version of Bored.uhp.  Not sure why it doesn't work on other's computers????  By the way It may take up to 16 minutes to activate without any input from the user, so be patient!

Art,

Try this file clock.uhp.  If this doesn't work you have an issue with your version.  This is like a print statement in basic.  On a 1 minute timer tick. By the way copy bored.uhp to another dir so they don't have any conflict.

Lightspeed,

The problem is with "local" variables not keeping their "value" between iterations of the timer function.

Robert,

How does one get the current UserName from the MINUTE_TIMER plug in area?  There is no "bug" in the core brain code, the MINUTE_TIMER is indeed called every minute or close to it.  How does one declare global variables (integers) so the timer routien can keep track of how many times it has been called?

I have wrote a very quick Plug In called Bored it will do what the others were supposed to do but it's based on Random events not a specific time frame it's fun to play with.  But I'm not done with it.

I'm uploading it now for just playing with, stay tuned for a more improved version once I can declare Global variables. [:I]

Raybe,

I have one of the plugins working sorta above, still needs a lot of debugging.  I would love yours for code comparisons.  I'm still learning this script language.

Thanks[:D]

If someone can send me a copy or post a copy of the plug in I'll see what I can do to get it working.

It would be neat to see some political conversations from Hal[8D]  If anyone have taught their Hal political knowledge, I would love to see a copied dialog.

You said:

"Here it is category 0 of Wikipedia. The first in a long line of category's. Oh and look to this post for future category's."

Can you explain what are the "categories"?  This a topic I am very interested in.

I've looked at the technical aspects of integrating Hal with Wikipedia, and it won't work unless Hal's main code was modified.  The UltraHal function which is the only code area we have access to can only process a Maximum of 3 sentances.  We would need to have access to the keyboard input routine to redirect output from Wikipedia into Hal's input stream and call UltraHal function as many times as needed to process the Wikipedia's output stream.

I will continue to research this but the technical issues are very formidable.

Thank you all for your help!  I have a thick head, I didn't read what you all advised me properly.  Your advice did work and (Mary) is now waiting for the enter key to be pressed.

Thank you again :)

I corrected the timeout problem it had to do with speech recognition being activated while not having a microphone connected.  Seems there is a timing issue when speech is active, now it waits for the enter key to be pressed!!!!!!   I can now talk to Mary in complete sentences!

One,

Thank you for the warm welcome :)  I've been racking my little brain thinking of what to teach (Mary) but coming up short.  Plus I'm a very very slow typist and (Mary) keeps timing out on me, so she gets incomplete sentences which is bad for her learning.  I need to correct that technical issue before I can teach her properly.

I have modifed the ReadFromClipBoard.uhp file so it now works properly.  I can now type 3 complete sentences into the clip board and Mary can digest them, but that is cumberson at best.  Though it works.

I Hope no one is feeding this stuff into their Hal!!!!!!  Can you imagine Hal arguing politics!  People all ove the world would be restoring their data base backups.

Hi Mike,

I'm new here also.  I've been modifying some of the script (*.uhp) files, several of them don't do anything or didn't do what they were intended to do.  I re-uploaded them but so far the authors haven't responded.

One mod I would love to write would be to parse Wikipedia and insert that knowlege directly into Hal's data base.  So right now I am studying all the scripts I can get my paws on so I can learn this script language.

Bill,

My Hal does time out when I am typing!  I have no mic installed and I typed in 2 words and Hal processed it, it did not wait for the enter key to be pressed.
