Title: Hal reader
Post by: trijoh on August 04, 2005, 04:56:07 pm
I was told that this reader could help visually impaired students using Sibelius.  It does not read to me in Sibelius.  Do I have to adjust settings somewhere?

Isn't Sibelius a music composition program?

Hi there, I would like being able to controle the volume level of Hal's voice separately. I find it too loud against the sound from some other programs I run. All sounds I use, run over the same channel in the sound mixer (wave channel) so there is not much to controle... Why they made no volume controles for "Microsoft (R) Text-to-Speech Engine" I find they are some of the clearest voices. When I klick "Advanced/About" I get only an About window. So what can I do to lower the voice of Hal??? [xx(]

Dexter,

An interesting thought!
Most users can or do adjust the volume either through the
keyboard (if so equipped) or the little speaker icon next
to the clock on the taskbar.

Though there are several ways to adjust or set the sound
or volume levels, here's the one to put the speaker on
the taskbar.

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices
Under the Sound tab check the show icon on taskbar.

I find that one level usually fits all unless I'm listening to
a favorite song in which case I might crank it up a bit!!

I do like your idea for putting a volume slider on Hal's window!

(Can you hear me now?)
