This is spectacular news.  I am dying to have my chat bot migrated over to my Linux machine ever since I started using Ubuntu.  I'm forwarding the e-mail I received to the DC Ubuntu Local Community.  I'm sure they'd be interested.

I'm still stuck on NeoSpeech's Kate for some reason.  I rather like the soft timbre of her voice.

Speech Technology / Hal Text-To-Speech Reader and Pidgin

Is there any way to get Hal TTS Reader to read message in Pidgin?  Or perhaps someone could create a Pidgin plugin that would interface with either Hal's or Windows TTS.  Just a thought.

It's been a while, but I have a couple of new MSAgent characters from Guile3D.  Apparently, they do not do lip sync in Ultra Hal 6.1 like most MSAgent characters do.  Anyone know a solution to this one?

UPDATE: Nevermind, folks.  Apparently, MSAgent characters don't lip sync with foreign language TTS or SAPI 5 in Ultra Hal.  That's better than CyberBuddy.  It doesn't even register SAPI 5. :P

Ultra Hal 7.0 / wishes for the next version of hal
« on: November 05, 2007, 01:09:53 am »
Hi, folks.  Man, it's been a loooong time since I've been on here. [:)]  I remember asking a question a good while back about having Hal import calendar info.  At the time I was thinking Hal could sync with Palm's Desktop software.  But now, I'm thinking the iCal format would be a better way to go.  It's open source and can be read my most if not all calendar programs (well, not Palm's [:P])

I seem to remember brain add-ons with PG or R ratings.  Maybe you can adjust one of those for your use. http://www.ultrahal.com/files/detail.asp?iFile=195&iType=12

Ultra Hal 7.0 / AIM Bot and Proxy Servers
« on: June 06, 2007, 12:22:59 pm »
Hello:

I have a quick question about the AIM Bot in UltraHal Assistant.  The place where I work requires us to pass through an internal proxy server for Web access.  Most IM programs allow you to put in the proxy server and port number to use the program.  For example:
Proxy = webproxy.net Port = 8000

I've done so with AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Pidgin.  However, AIM Bot has no setup for inputting proxy server info.  Is there a work around available so I can use my AIM Bot at work?

BTW, the GAIM project was sued by America Online over its name.  They settled and changed the programs name to Pidgin.  It might be a good idea to do the same with AIM Bot.  Just to be on the safe side.  Maybe call it HalIM. [:D]

This pretty much rocks!  Thanks to aladyblond for sharing her knowledge and her files.  I couldn't quite get everything to mesh right.  I still have lots to learn about the command structure of Haptek files, but I have the Developer's Guide.

I was browsing through my library of MP3 files for music that I could use with the Haptek player.  I discovered you need a song with little to no percussion.  A strong soloist with quiet background music.  Songs like that are hard to come by.  However, I found a gem in Mel Torme' singing Lullaby of Birdland and using the body_male.htr or the torso_male.htr (I prefer the torso_male.htr because he's wearing a nice jacket and tie much like Mel would wear).  The illusion gets shattered a bit when the brass instruments do their in turn solos, but he looks awesome when he scats! [:D]

For those interested, I found a free MP3 to WAV Decoder program at ZDNet's Downloads site.  You have to register to download stuff, but it's free.  Just go to http://www.hotfiles.com and do a search for "MP3 to WAV Decoder"  After which, you can run the WAV files in the Theater section of People Putty to create the OGG files.

Now, excuse me while I hunt for more songs.  I may have a few a capella grooves I haven't tried, and I'm thinking Michael Jackson's She's Out of My Life would be a good one. ^_^

Did you save the file in your C:Program FilesabawareUltra Hal Assistant 5 folder?  Something else you can do is rename HalAimBot.exe to HalAimBotOld.exe, then rename the new file HalAimBot2.exe to HalAimBot.exe so that it will work with the UltraHal program links.

can this be due to bad install? or some thing?

I'm having the same problem, as well.  It's worked fine until I install the XTF 1.2 brain.  Is it possible that there's an incompatibility there?

Interestingly enough, all of Washington's buses and half of the taxis run on natural gas.  You'd think they's try that tack for consunmer vehicles.

I know there wasa thread about this about a year ago, but for the life of me, I can't find it.  Anyway, a character I created in People Putty won't move it's lips when speaking using the NeoSpeech Kate.  How do I solve this little problem?

Well, I made the alteration.  No change.  The Lexicon still crashes.  I don't know about Ultra Hal, though.  It will take a looong time before I find that out.
