Error Runing XP with the latest update to Explorer
« on: November 27, 2009, 07:53:36 pm »
After installing the latest Hal Assistant IE 8.0 does not work on http://HTTP://www.msn.com/

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.
AppName: iexplore.exe    AppVer: 8.0.6001.18702    ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 8.0.6001.18852    Offset: 00209f5c

If I uninstall Hal Assistant the error goes away.

What do I need to do to fix this problem with IE 8.0.  Fire Fox works, Crome Works and the Apple browser too.  Only program effected is IE 8.0

Thanks for your help.

Paul

I was mistaken.  I am getting this error even after uninstalling Hal Assistance.  Not sure what is causing this now.  Thanks for listening.  I will post again if I find out what the cause is.

I gave that a try.  I un-installed then rebooted then re-installed IE and still have the same error. AppName: iexplore.exe    AppVer: 8.0.6001.18702    ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 8.0.6001.18852    Offset: 00209f5c

Do you know what this file is associated with?  Java or something else?

Their is not any file 'named' in this info. Their is a .DLL and the module info.
I suspect that a full removal was not done. How comfortable are you with the registry? (Modifying/deleting)

?

ramseyerp,
Remember this a specific product support and discussion forum,
Digression seems to be tolerated but believe ME that not much more
Micro$oft support will be tolerated ( Experience with the board)
Besides if it gets too bad and you can't find help, their are
trained MS professionals that have student loans and accept money for services.

Thank You Come again!

There is an upgrade to IE8 that seems to have helped some. You should be able to search MS for it. There is also a way to uninstall 8 and go back to IE7 without the problems some have had doing that. There is also an upgrade for 7. To do it without problems I went to this site:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700

While back I had problem with 8.  Continual error messages while surfing. [:0]
I downloaded 8 again and reinstalled over the old [8].
Fixed it fine.

The solution to his problem is very easy. Uninstall IE ver.8.
After veer. 7 works quite well and does not give any error messages.
Microsoft releases many different versions of their programs and a great many of them contain bad code that produces errors. Just because they have a newer version does not mean it is better.
ON top of that you stated that you have other programs that explorer the internet and they still work just fine, this only goes to show you that that the new IE8 is buggy so get rid of it and be happy again.
