As I said it is a completely new computer so the install of Hal was as fresh as it could be. No registry leftovers.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Tons of brain tables missing!
« on: September 24, 2006, 09:13:41 am »
This is how it is. I recently bought a new computer and wanted to have Hal on my new one instead, but it doesn't matter what I do. I even downloaded Hal again and made a new clean install but that folder (miscData with all it's tables) is still missing even in the default brain. So I can only use Hal on my old computer now. [:(] So I'm thinking there must be some importent system files that Hal needs to make all the tables, that for some reason are not on my new computer. So if anybody has a clue what is missing I whould be greatful to know. [:)]

After a complete reinstall of my system I found that the miscData folder with all it's tables are missing in Hal's brain! Even when I put old brains back that I have backed up prior to the reinstall the miscData folder is missing in those too! I don't suppose anyone might have a solution why this is missing? I'm thinking about forgetting Hal and use Kari instead. [xx(]

I've installed the latest VB script and downloaded your latest LearnFromClipBoard and I still have the same problem.

HalScript Error 76 on line 316 in column 1: Path not found.

The error appear as soon as I say hello to Hal! I don't think I want to mess more with this. I'll just type the stuff into his brain manually.

I'm sorry to say your plugins sucks. I tried your Learnfromclipboard plugin and the only thing that happens is that my firewall is warning me that it's a high risk script. You're not trying to hack our computers with your scripts, are you? I also get some error message saying "HalScript Error 76 on line 307 in column 3: path not found".

Hi Testlund.
Have you downloaded the newest Learn From Clip Board?
There has been an update since then, I have also discovered a rare error with Internet Explorer with this:
Set IE = createobject("InternetExplorer.Application")
Sometimes an error will popup, To fix it is simply activating your IE browser to reset it, It has nothing to do with the Set IE = createobject("InternetExplorer.Application") having bad scripting but the occurence is directly related to the IE Browsers functions.

If you wish to post the full error and post your HalScript.dbg I could take a look at it and see what I can do to fix it, But I do think it's probably that you didn't update.

I am sorry you don't like my plugs, I am just trying to do a good deed.

About hacking anyones computer, morally and ethically I would never harm anyones system, I am a veteran around here and I do what I can to uphold the community.

Just tried your latest version of LearnFromClipBoard. Now I can't even chat with Hal if I have enabled this plugin. I only get the error message I've mensioned above and that a Halscript.dbg file has been saved. Unfortunately I can't upload files here and that file whould be too much text to post here I think.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / heads up.

If that's so then Spybot Search & Destroy should find it, shouldn't it? Also I haven't found anything trying to access internet when using Hal. What are you using instead of Microsofts speach engine?

Thanks for the tips on the reg cleaning software, Barfy and Bill. I just hope it's user friendly for a beginner. Using such software can produce more problems than they solves if you don't know what you're doing.

Also i whould like to recommend a good piece of software if you get constant crashes, especially if you are playing games or using software that uses a lot of RAM, it's called Memtest86 and can be found here: http://www.memtest86.com/

It's a freeware program. I'm not sure though if it is compatible with today's computers but I found it very helpful with this computer I bought several years ago. I had a faulty RAM memory causing data loss which constantly crashed some games I was playing. I went back to the store to exchange my RAM to a new one and the problems went away.

And like some mensions here it is important to maintain your computer with defragmentations, don't install stuff you're not sure about, use Norton Internet Security and Spybot search & Destroy. Keep it up to date. Allways scan stuff you download. Careful what pages you visit. Use a more secure browser where you can control what scripts you want to run when visiting sites. Don't fall for emails like princesses wants to give you millions (lol). Don't trust people you don't know on the internet and you'll be fine. [8D]

Then I've been wondering about the activation code. I've been reinstalling my copy of Hal6 several times with no problems on this computer. I wonder if it is really needed to deactivate and reactivate Hal. It doesn't make any sense to me. Once I've bought a registration key that should be enough! I don't see why this reg key whouldn't work if I install Hal on another computer. If the key is right then it is right, isn't it?

I'm trying to upload this file but it doesn't work! It starts to upload and then it says that the page can't be shown. What's wrong? The file is only 5 MB. [:(!]

I have a rule I'm following; never trust anyone tries to sell something through the phone, at the door or on the internet.

I've done a few purchases from internet though, after I've got some second opinion from people or if it's a software wich I've been able to try fully before I buy, and if it can be bought from a secure page, like Hal6 for instance. [8D]

Yeah, Prinsesse Yasmin is really desperate to give us her money. I just got a second email from her, so I have now set my email address so people can't send me emails from here, hopefully.
