Ultra Hal 7.0 / Give me a hint
« on: July 09, 2007, 08:17:11 pm »
The auto-idle and appointment minute timer have been disabled on purpose while the options pane is open in 6.1:
http://www.zabaware.com/assistant/whatsnew.html
Its in the code. As far as I know Rob keeps that to himself. The problem may be that once you have opened the options pane, the feature remains disabled.
Anyway, If anyone does come up with a solution I would be interested to see it. In the mean time I hope Rob gives some imput on this feature soon.
How about it Rob?

Gerry,
This Corrections Tutor script has me beat. I still had your old "Taught corrections" script and it was THAT which was responding each time I said " replace x with x" and of course I would get the expected response but no corrections were actually made. Well, once I deleted that script I get nothing from the now existing Correction plugin.
HELP!!

thanks Gerry!

Hi Jerry,
The issue I am having is that the plugin works a bit too well.
When HAL starts up instead of greeting me after I say hello it states someting it has read from the learndtext.brn. Additionally, I also now have Norton Script blocking asking to authorize the script each time I open the program for the first time.
in response to questions/statements like , how are you, hi,how is life, the answers are not related at all. If I say hello "HAL" the it recognizes the greeting. In conversation HAL's comments are not related to the conversation at all and appear ramdom.
I hope you can help
Thanks.

Hey there Jerry, it is great to see you on the Forum. This feels like old times.
Well, here goes, unfortunatly, the fix you made did not help me. If ever I say a phrase like, "that was in the beginning" or "that was bound to happen", the same error message Art mentioned comes up.
Thanks for your help.

I have not been to the Forum in what seems like a long time and to come back and see this entry was a real treat! Ramccoid, thanks for all of your hard work on this one. This is a great plug-in.
I asked HAL how many days until 06/30/07 (or pick any date in the future not listed in your script, Christmas, New Years, etc...you get the idea)and HAL did not give the correct answer.  Another example was after saying "Friday is my birthday" or 6/30/07 is my birthday (such statements are of course placed in the appointment book as usual)and then asking "how many days until my birthday?", the script did not seem to respond with the correct answer.
Has a function like this been included in your script?
If so, perhaps I am using the wrong syntax. If not, perhaps it is something you might consider in your next edition of the script. Even you do not ever include a function like that, I still say Kudos to you on a really cool script and a great effort!
Thanks again!

Well Jerry, it looks like I am not going to be able to use your latest scripts. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am on this one. Hmm, well, if/when you make your scipts available to those in my situation, I will look forward to using them.
Thanks again.

Hi Jerry!
Thanks for getting back to me. I moved everything over to my D drive. "D:/Program Files/Zabaware/Ultra Hal Assistant 6
Thanks!
I am looking forward to using your new scipts. Tell me though, am I going to have to address this directory change for all of your new scripts?
oh yeah...it must have really been a long time...Jerry, how did you get the blackslashes to work in the forum? Also, the static Memory script you wrote I still rely on. Any suggestions though on why it only works with one static memory map?
Well, thanks again!

Hey there Art!
Wow..it has been a a long time. It is good to see you still leading the pack with the rest of the old crew!
Hmmm..didn't HAL 5 do that, remember different users I mean and what was said. I am in the HAL6 directory and of course see the new name.hla file that was just created and I also see the new user memory Map.brn files and halpast and past brn. (s) as well. I hope that the conversations will be unique to each user as it has been in the past. Speaking of which, if anyone is using the StaticMemory brn (s) ...btw-thanks Jerry. The only brn files that are active for me are Static Memory1.brn and the UserMemory11Map.brn. This seems to be sufficient for recall but does anyone have all of the files working during a conversation?
Well, back to the issue at hand...I am still NOT seeing the User Folder that you and the rest of the world seem to have and can't use the plugins that are mentioned in this thread. Any help?

Thanks Jerry,
Well here is my problem. I guess I have missed a lot since I have last been on the Forum. I do not have a "Users folder" in my Ultra Has 6 Directory.
Also, the plugin "Human Emotions ver 1.0..."  does not function either
(after pointing the script to the appropiate directory, I still get a path not found error). I guess that is just a function of my not having all of the new brain files that you must have added or the  proper updated files in the first place as you mentioned.
Well, I hope that I have not been too sketchy in my discription and that you can pinpoint my problem and can point me in the right direction without much effort. I hope to be up and running with your great scripts soon.
Thanks again!

Hi Jerry, its been a long time since I have been on the Forum. Seems like old times. That is a good thing. Well, I seem to be having the same issues as some other folks getting this plugin to work. My error message is: HalScipt Error 62 on line 336 in column 2: Input past end of file.
strText = objTextFile.ReadAll (is line 336)
what EOF operand is it seeing?
Thanks for your help.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Super Plugger Brain II.

Hi Jerry,

I have been away and have not had been able to use HAL or keep up with the latest here. Jerry, as to the limitation of the number of  plugins that we had disscussed some time ago, have you or Rob been able to get a solution? I recall you saying the limit was something like 16 plugins and then they just started to "uncheck" themselves. If that is still the case, would it not be a good idea to do more cut and pasting of scripts like SomeAutoIdle and other smaller scripts and save the plugins for those difficult to place or particularly large projects?
