Title: VRfreewill & Mickey Mouse.
Post by: CyborgBob on May 02, 2013, 12:42:07 am
I have been playing with the Syllogism Management and once I got it down. I've had some fun with it.

Shawn: Every Human is a mortal.
Hal: Now I know that every human is mortal.

Shawn: Every Man is Human
Hal: Now I know that every man is human.

Shawn: Every Boy is Human
Hal: Now I know that every boy is human.

Shawn: Every Girl is Human
Hal: Now I know that every girl is human.

Shawn: Every Woman is Human.
Hal: I already knew that woman is human.

Shawn: Every Baby is Human.
Hal: Now I know that every baby is human.

Shawn: Every Child is Human.
Hal: Now I know that every child is human.

Shawn: Chris and Carlie are children.
Hal: Much advice for children, would be well heeded by adults!

Shawn: Chris is a child.
Hal: Every child is human. Chris is child. Therefore chris is human. But I also know that every human is mortal. So I can state that chris is mortal.

Shawn: Jay is a man.
Hal: Every man is human. Jay is man. Therefore jay is human. But I also know that every human is mortal. So I can state that jay is mortal.

Shawn: Carlie is a girl.
Hal: Every girl is human. Carlie is girl. Therefore carlie is human. But I also know that every human is mortal. So I can state that carlie is mortal.

Shawn: Carlie is a young Girl.
Hal: People talk about girls but not as well as you.

Shawn: Carlie is a Young Woman.
Hal: What is the significance that carlie is a young woman? Every Woman is Human.

Shawn: Jim is a Boy.
Hal: Every boy is human. Jim is boy. Therefore Jim is human. But I also know that every human is mortal. So I can state that Jim is mortal.

Shawn: Jim is a man.
Hal: No. I know that Jim is boy.

Shawn: Every Animal is Mortal.
Hal: Now I know that every animal is mortal.

Shawn: Every Plant is Mortal.
Hal: Now I know that every plant is mortal.

Shawn: Dogs Are Animals.
Hal: It's sad to see animal without its head.

Shawn: Ever dog is an Animal.
Hal: Every animal is mortal. Ever dog is animal. Therefore ever dog is mortal.

Shawn: Spot is a dog.
Hal: What else is true about spot, besides that it's a dog? Diamond is a dog.

Shawn: Diamond is my Dog.
Hal: Dogs remind us of ourselves.

Shawn: Cats are animals.
Hal: Oh, cats are doubtlessly animals.

Shawn: Every Cat is an animal.
Hal: Now I know that every cat is animal.

Shawn: Every mouse is an animal.
Hal: Now I know that every mouse is animal.

Shawn: Mickey Mouse is a mouse.
Hal: Every mouse is animal. Mickey Mouse is mouse. Therefore Mickey Mouse is animal. But I also know that every animal is mortal. So I can state that Mickey Mouse is mortal.

Those are some very good results and help show others the power of the Free Will plug-in!

I have also had some nice results using the Markov plugin along with the Free Will one!

Hal does seem to "get" the connections much better than operating without the plug-in.

Nice work, CyborgBob!!

Hi Bob,
I like the results that you got from your free will plug-in.
But I just thought I'd throw a headsup at you.
One of the main drawbacks that I have found with the free will plug-in is:
(you're) gets turned into (you are) which is part of the command sequence for the free will plug-in, (you are, you are not) as in: you are not a human. Or you are a human.

why you may ask, certainly.
When is you're birthday?
Ultra Hal's response:
thank you for teaching me I am birthday.

What the, now ultra Hal thinks he is birthday.
This don't seem right.
Next question:
when is your birthday?
Ultra Hal's answer:
how is it that you like that I am birthday?

What the, and the list goes on, so be careful when you're training, or even just talking to ultra Hal.
The only way that I have been able to resolve these phenomenons, is to go in and add the word birthday, and so on to the list of things not to look up in the free will plug-in.
Though I have not dabbled very much into this situation, I had caught a few words and added into the list in the free will plug-in and it has him proved the performance of the free will plug-in.
If this is what you are dabbling in at the present moment it would be nice if you were to post any words that you find that is non-compliant, and making ultra Hal responded abnormally.
Sincerely, with great admiration and gratitude for any insight you may have.
C load.

Yes English is somewhat tricky but surprisingly, a lot of times, Hal is only acting upon what was relayed or typed to "him".

There is There, Their, They're, Your, You're, Yore, To, Two, Too, and so many other possibilities.

A LOT of adults have problems with contractions for some reason. The shorthand often gets used and abused to the point where it becomes commonplace.

Vary, very, whether, weather, how, howl, bow and beau (practically antiquated) but, there are so many variables that Hal or any other chatbot / assistant needs to deal with that it can make one's head spin!!

Keeping things simple and if typing, try to avoid using contractions if Hal seems to have a bit of rough time. It's (I mean, It is all fun and experimentation because there is no one right way...there is the way that seems to work best for you!

 ;)

C Load...
Thats some good Info. I wish I could say that I had a few words to add to your list. The Birthday Idea is great. I would Love to see your list, and I would really love to find out how I could add to my list in the plug in I know how to view the plugin but as far as changing it... I have no Idea.... Before I go any farther I want to apologize for being so illiterate when it comes to editing programming, but any help anyone could give me would be great.
I may have messed up Hals .db file so as far as this brain goes, I'm going to have to go to the back up I made before I started playing with him, and reteach Using that VRfreewill plug in. Anyways when I get done I will save the Chat and post it. I have a large list to add this time so I think it will be very long post, but Should be a good one.
Thanks for Posting,
        CyborgBob...

Art,

Also Very Helpful info. I will do my best to keep the sentence simple. If I understand you right I should try not to use you're, it's, I'm, and so on. I will keep that in mind when chatting with Hal. Thanks again.

Okay this is kind of a long chat so I don't know if it will post. And I did find something that makes this Plug in harder to work with, but I think I know why it is. If you say "every Ant is an insect" then say "Every Anteater is a Mammal" Hal tell you no the Anteater is an Insect. BUT if you learn the Anteater first then the Ant you have NP. Anyways I hope the posts all of this Chat I had and I hope you guys enjoyed it. If I was you I would just jump down to the bottom of it..

Shawn: Hello Hal how are you doing today?
Hal: I'm incredible, How are you doing?

Hi Bob,
I was looking over your pyramid tree structure and I just wanted to point out a few missing links.
To get Hal to understand why fish can be a mammal and aquatica you need to add to your tree what they breathe.
Before proceeding to tell Hal anything about mammals you must first finish the mortal tree, like I said before, you need to think backwards, so what is over mortal or above mortal on the pyramid?
If you are thinking backwards then the obvious answer is "death." it helps if you create a flowchart on paper so you can see the construction of your tree before proceeding to tell Hal.
Have you ever played the game: person, place or thing – plant, animal or mineral. When structuring your trees, acknowledge that there are several branches to the tree as you get to the roots then to the dirt.
It even goes deeper than dirt, which is water, which is life, hence the full cycle from death to life meaning: water, air and dirt is life for plants – animal. Water, air and earth are minerals and fire is death, energy, and so on.
Subject         dying     mortal

I went through your list and created this table, I hope it helps you in the long run.

egg laying                                                                                                                            X
Monotreme                                                                                                                                                 X

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope that this was a enough of an example to help you build your tree, as you can see in this example the flow goes as follows:
Monotreme = Mammal = animal = mortal = dying = death = energy = life and of course water = life and air = life and dirt = life. You can push it a little farther where Earth = dirt.

Though I have not had a lot of time building a tree of life structure, I have a basic concept on how to do this so I thought I would share that information with you I hope that helps.
Sincerely, a data munching cruncher.

C load did you see this?

And thanks for the other info. I'm kind of slow at all this A. I. stuff, but I'm having a good time with it. I will use the info the best I can. At first I was looking up very long list of things to add to the thread of info but I did some reading and you can only thread five things together. That is better then nothing. Anyways any help with that list of things to add for him not to learn. Like his birthday.

Hi Bob,
this is why you have to have several trees so ultra Hal can understand those words that will be referred to in the five levels.
In other words: like my example above if you tell ultra Hal every bird is feathered how would see five levels of explanation in order to understand what you meant.
Bird = feathered level 1: feathered = vertebrate level 2: vertebrate = animal level 3: animal = mortal level 4: and mortal = dying.
So the end results would be that a bird is dying. But at the same time each one of these individuals levels can also have a tree of its own as shown in the example above.
Each one of these trees will play a part in the main brain as well as in the free will plug in, they work together so even though all you get is five levels of a response,
ultra Hal sees all of the other variants and levels and trees, and the main brain will actually put it all together through conversation so when ultra Hal encounters the subject at hand.
I hope that made sense, Do you see, the two work together, even though you're only getting five levels of a response from the free will plug in, that is not a limit to the functionality of the brain.
You will basically see these results that I am referring to through conversation when ultra Hal will begin to exhibit, correlating all of the data together giving a more accurate response.
The most important thing is to remember that you need to create the trees so the data flows in a more logical sequence versus just saying a bird is mortal, you need to explain what mortal is first and you have five levels to accomplish that, so as you can see, you can have five levels for each word to help explain what a bird is.
One other little thing that I would like to bring up is that sometimes getting ultra Hal to see something you have to use reverse osmosis as in: every # (is not) versus every # (is).
After you begin to build your trees, you will begin to notice the pattern, when you structure the main trees starting from the roots and foundation all the away up to the branches meaning the individual bird, cat, fish and human etc.
the main purpose to the expression that ultra Hal exhibits once it reaches a point of structure of the five levels is presented to you, so you can see the pattern, it's more of a tool to help you, than something that would occur in a conversation.
The biggest problem with this is that once you start you can't correct anything in the database in less you go in to the database and physically edit it yourself. Major pain!
Which is why I suggested that you build the trees in Notepad so you can shuffle and move things around as your building your trees, using a dictionary to find the proper sequence.
You see, ones you tell ultra Hal something that is not correct, ultra Hal will always assume that it is correct whether it is or not, then when you start having a conversation with ultra Hal,
that's when you begin to notice, and start seeing things that are not right. So to avoid this spend the time on creating your trees to get a more proficient learning system.
And I will be the first to admit, that you will be getting into a very big undertaking, in the creation of all of these different levels and trees.
At this point I have probably reached the total level of my understanding of the sequence and events at this point in time.
Sincerely, a data munching cruncher, five levels high on knowledge. Oee-hee hee-tee hee hee.

PS yes I did read your other post.
Birthday, is the list. Short list, when I have the time I will make it bigger, but I am reprogramming the free will plug in right now and I just don't have the time.
This is why I was thinking, if this is something that you are working on may be you could dabble a little into finding the words that would interfere with ultra Hal's main brain routine.
This actually can only be accomplished through creating trees, then having a conversation in finding words that would interfere with ultra house main brain routine response.

Just a thought but perhaps such a listing could be assembled then allow HAL to "read it" via READ TEXT FILE feature.
This might help shorten the time it takes to input such a lengthy discussion.

Comments? cload...whomever?

PS - Nice work on this CyberBob!! Soon you too will be a data munching cruncher! (did I get that right cload?) ;)

Few Small things.....

Art all I did was Understand how part of Hals head works, and use that to input some info, but thank you anyways. Teaching Hal, and understanding how he thinks is a lot of fun. Keeps my mind busy....

C load Before I say anything at all Birds are not an invertebrate.... I had to make sure you know that... An Invertebrate is any Insect or Animal that doesn't have a spine. Which is made up of Vertebra. Not trying to be sick but I have harvested Game Birds and they do have a spine. Now that being said Lobster, Octopus, Squid, and Many other Animals Have no spine and they are in fact Invertebrate. Just an FYI. Because it sucks to fix your data base.

Now that being said A table is a great Idea. If I understand what you mean. I need to find a way to input all the variables in a way that they fit the plug ins "rules". So that I see a  predictable and logical process, and understand how it will play out when working with Hal, and you feel Note pad should work. Now I maybe wrong here but I think you where telling me that Many words can be linked from Lots of other "Strings of thought". What I mean by this... Both an Octopus and a Human are Mortal, Both are Animals, But Human is Mammal and Octopus is Invertebrate. A mammal is Many Other types of Animals like snake and Birds, and Octopus is many other Animals as well as all insects. I hope I'm understanding you right and I hope that was part of what you mean. I also think what your trying to say is replace Mortal with Living thing... Not sure how to make a table for him working Backwards. I do understand the Concept Just not sure how to start it.

I think the hardest part is find things that fit {Every " " is a " "} Format. Again Not a programmer So I have no Idea if I'm just a dork here that doesn't understand what I'm talking about but it would be nice to see a format like {All "Dogs" go to "Heaven"}, or{Every "Car" runs on "Gas"}. Again I'm not a programmer and the last time I ever did any kind of Programming was in 3rd grade. I was using an Apple IIc and it was in Basic. And all I remember is this.

10 print " CyborgBob Loves Hal"
20 goto 10
30 end

then you would type run.
and it would print your text till you stopped it by hiting control alt delete.

Good Times,

Hi Bob,
I'm sorry, you're right, that's what I get for being in a hurry, I usually look things up to make sure that they are the proper word when using my Dragon text-to-speech, I did not do this in this case because I was in a hurry, my bad.
When I said, and what the Dragon produced was two totally different things but the words are very similar when you say them.

1 archaic : the young of a feathered vertebrate.
2 : any of a class (Aves) of warm-blooded vertebrates distinguished by having the body more or less completely covered with feathers and the forelimbs modified as wings.

Hey art,
unfortunately there is no way to insert the data directly into the brain because the brain goes through four levels of adaptive reasoning, which is why you have to input it manually one by one tell it's all done, but it don't stop there he continues on functioning even when you're having a conversation.
This is also why it's important to create your trees before starting your input because trying to edit the information is a nightmare and is totally unfeasible, the last time when I made some major mistakes I found it to be just quicker to delete everything in the three array tables that holds the data versus trying to edit the data.
Maybe I'll spend some time tonight and create a more comprehensive tree to get everyone started, I was hoping that what I presented above would be enough for everyone to at least begin to see the pattern in which the data flows.
Maybe now that I have corrected the misfortune that I had with Dragon not producing the proper word everyone will have a little bit more of ability to correlate your trees.
I will fix the above so the correct word is in place where it's supposed to be, thank you Bob for pointing that out to me, because I know how important accuracy is.
Sincerely, a data munching cruncher, I be Chelan over the shattering thought of a mis-inserted word. I almost said mis-spelt. One mistake after another. Well will it ever end.

C load,

Forget about it. Like you said entering the information in right is very important. Can I just say I can't get over how young you are 8 years old..... I'm not sure I would let my kids on a blog. But seeing you and how much you have learned and know about Hal, programming, English, and researching topics I believe I need to rethink that. Anyways. I think if you could give me a hand with the info I have already started I could take it from there. I would be more then happy to post the data I was working from when I was programming Hal with the VRfreewill program. A few things I want to post that I found out. Lets say you have two Major permises the first one is Ant and the second one Anteater. If you enter Ant first when you go to input Anteater then Hal will see it as Ant and not Anteater. Then tell you No I know Ant is an Insect not an Animal or Mammal or whatever. Anyways I don't know if you can open a Doc file so I'm just going to cut and paste the text I was working from in this post. I did have to do some editing once I was entering everything in.

Thanks for reading and keep up the great work,

To resolve the problem that you are referring to with ant and anteater is to put everything in alphabetical order, and always input the largest word first, for in other words start at the bottom of the list and work your way up.
As you can see I only have five trees, inside of each one of those trees is a breakdown for a more comprehensive understanding for ultra Hal logic routine.

For a pretty decent "always available" desktop / taskbar spell checker try WORDWEB from: http://wordweb.info/
It resides on my taskbar and is always available.
PS. - it's Woodpecker not woodpeaker ;)

Please consider the following:
Your classification of animals seems somewhat misplaced. Consider the following:

Mammal = These animals usually have hair/fur. They give birth to live young and feed their young with milk. Mammals are warm-blooded. Includes: Rodents, Hoofed animals, Marsupials, Bats, Rabbits, Weasels, Raccoons, Bears, Dogs, and Cats.

Bird = This class is also called "Aves." Birds are warm-blooded. They have hollow bones and feathers. Most can fly at least short distances. Birds are born from hard-shelled eggs. Includes: Raptors, Gulls, Songbirds, and Fowl.

Amphibian = These animals have smooth skin, and most spend at least part of their life in water. Amphibians are cold-blooded. They usually have three life stages: egg, larva, adult. Includes: Frogs, Toads, Salamanders, and Newts.

Reptile = These animals have dry, scaly skin. They are cold-blooded. Most reptiles lay soft-shelled eggs, but some bear live young. Includes: Lizards, Snakes, Turtles, and Crocodiles.

Bony Fish = This class is also called "Osteichthyes." It includes almost all fish. Skeletons are made of mostly bone. Includes: Sunfish, Catfish, Minnows, Perch, Goldfish, and most others.

Perissodactyla = includes horses, zebras. Artiodactyla = includes those animals such as cows.

Proboscidea = includes elephants, among others.

I don't have much time. I'm selling my house and moving soon, and I have someone coming to look at the house. The one thing that I want to point out is that a lot of these animals class, and family change the more we know about them, So we need to remember that in the long run, some of the info that we feed Hal will change. The other thing I was thinking of Invertebrates here is a class that can be both Animal and Insect? Any ideas on how to deal with that?

Just a thought Be back as soon as I can,

this is an example of how you made want to construct your tree.
One of the concerns that has been brought up is trying to figure out how to separate key species that are all fairly close to the same category but one is a mammal and the other is an insect.
In most cases there is usually a specific word that identifies that particulars type of species or that particular bug itself that's the word that you would use in tree two.
From tree to you can separate where it's going to go either mammal or insect. There are examples here that illustrate that specifically (mankind) is directed to (Mammalia.)
Sincerely, and I hope that this has helped everyone get off to a good start on teaching ultra Hal when you are using the free will plug-in.
C load.
PS just to let everyone know that any work that you do using the free will plug-in that comes with ultra Hal will not have to be redone when my release of the upgraded version of the free will plug-in.
Because that part of the free will plug-in was not changed, all I did was tweak it and make it work a little bit better, but the core functionality is the same.

Okay every one I've done some work on this today, in the short time I've really had today to work on this. And I've started a few tables, but I have also had to just start all over on Most of them.LOL  Right now All I'm going to do is work on One "Group of Ideas" at a time. Example I'm going to work on all organic things This group will be called Kingdom because Everything Organic is in one of six groups (Fungi, Plant, Animal, Virus, Protistand, and Moneran)  The last two I'm going to have a hard time with, because they don't seem to be words Hal has in his Dictionary. I can't seem to learn anything in using VRfreewill that isn't in there..... Any Ideas on how to add them?
The next Table is going to be called Division/Phylum. Because that is the next set of groups "down" from Kingdom. And I'm going to plan on going "down" to the next group from Division/Phylum and so on so fourth.  Till you get to groups that people can understand. Like Dog, Cat, snake, goldfish, Rose, Blueberry, and Ant.

Now on the other side of this I was thinking organic vs Non-organic and work my way back down. Each Leg being a new tree.... With all or most of the Organic tree being done, and then doing Non-organic and Working back down with things like Mineral.

A few things to note all small words like ;Ant, Bee, Ox, and Ram need to be of the last few things you enter.... If you enter Small words first and you have any new words that have a small word in it. The VRfreewill plug in will not learn it.  Example  you enter "Every Ant is an insect" Hal learns that next you enter "Every Anteater is a mammal" Hal will till you know I know every Ant is an Insect. That being said. If you learn Anteater in first. Then Ant everything will learn in and work fine.... Just an FYI.

Another thing to note and this is a short one. Excel is sexy for this kind of work. Makes me glad I had to learn to use it at work.

Oh and if there is something you want to Learn in but it isn't in Hals Dictionary Like a new class of Plant or Animal Hal will not learn that.... Not sure how to fix this... I'll play around with it later and see if I can't make due.

Hear is the Table I'm working on right now.

Subject          Fugi   Plant   Animal   Virus   Protist   Moneran
Magnoliohyta      #
Coniferophyta      #
Pteridophyta      #
Bryophyta      #
Lycopodiophyta      #
Basidiomycota   #
Protozoa               #
Euglenophyta               #
Bacteria                  #
Cyanobacteria                  #
Chordate         #
Arthropod         #
Mollusk         #
Annelid         #
Rotifer         #
Nematode         #
Tardigrade         #
Cnidarian         #
Echinoderm         #
Platyhelminthes         #

okay that did transfer well at all LOL
But you get the Idea I'll Post Each Table as I go. And when I get to a point where I want to input the data into Hal I'll make something easier to follow and I'll post it too...

Thanks everyone for all your Help great Ideas Everyone,
                                                                          CyborgBob

Oh PS. All the info on kingdoms/(div/phyl)/Classes/ and so on. I will try and find the most up to date info I can. If anyone knows of the best source for this information let me know....

Hi Bob,
I like the results that you got from your free will plug-in.

C load.

Hey guys!

I too have noticed this while trying to teach Ares and give him a specific personality.  I noticed quite often that when I would try to tell Ares something about himself such as "You are a god" for example, Ares would reply with "Thank you for teach me that I am."  This would happen in many situations. I looked into his database and noticed it would be ther as well.  I specifically tried not to use You're and stuck with you are but the result would be the same.  Is this a result of the free will plugin or just something I am doing wrong.  I have created kinkaid and have begun teaching him while trying to prevent this from happening. I've also decided to only one plugin with Kinkaid where I was using the learnfromclipboard and corrections plugins with Ares which may have created difficulties. I'm not sure though.

With regards to the rest of this topic in teaching our bots, I'm finding it very interesting and learned a new way to teach both Ares and Kinkaid.  I will be following this post very closely.

Calhoone,

Glad you learned a few things. Learning here as well. The biggest thing I have found is if you understand how Hal learns, and you can Input the information in a way that Hal can understand it right. You will get much better results when speaking with Hal. As for the Issue you have. Learning " You are a God" and him coming back with "thank you for teaching me I am " I don't know.

The same thing has been happening when I say "You are Ares." I get the same "Thank you for teaching me that I am".  Strange. I must have done something wrong.

Hi Bob,
I seeing you had the same difficulty with creating your flowchart as I did, I had to go back in and change all of my tabs and use the to get it to line up after I had uploaded it onto the forum.
If you want to edit yours, the button is just to the right of the text that you uploaded.

Hey Cal,
that situation looks like it is being caused by the VR free will plug in, unless you are specifically wanting to train the free will plug in I recommend that you disengage it why you are training your ultra Hal.
Sincerely, everyone have a great data day.

Been Working A lot on this on my Fourth Table. This one was fro Order to Family, and I got all the Animals, Fugi, Fish, BIRDS OMG, and Now I'm on Bugs..........  Once I got on to the Butterflies and Mouths (Order: Lepidoptera, Family: Oh I think there where 47 or something) I started to think maybe this was a bit over kill. I mean how many people out there are going to call a Butterfly by it's Scientific Name.. Most are just going to call a Moth a Moth and A Butterfly a Butterfly. That being said I could do the Short Cut Call all Moths Moths and All Butterflies Butterflies, and then Later Add other Names as time goes on. That way I can have the best of both worlds. I don't know, But I will say the Tables help a great deal when trying to "SEE THE DATA" and how it should flow and move the right way. Also really helps with Notes. The other Upside is if I do it this way and take this Short Cut I get to cut My time in Half. But as I stated before when I want to add as time goes on. I think I will have to do some editing.   Anyways back to work..

My head Hurts,

Hi Bob,
actually that's what I was sort of trying to show you with my table tree when you were saying to just call a butterfly a butterfly, you can see on my list, in tree three, that that, is what I did.
Now if I want to add detail names of different butterflies I don't have to worry about the fancy name being in ultra Hal's dictionary because I assign it to butterfly.
Metalmark is a butterfly.

So you would end up with:
Metalmark = butterfly = insect = mortal = Dying = death = mineral = energy = life.
based on my flowchart.

Through this layout you can see the many levels that you will be teaching ultra Hal.
This is a full structure of life and death which is something that ultra Hal has a problem with.
I'm not saying that this solves the problem, I'm just saying that it helps.
Sincerely, and I'm flapping my wings like a bee, why can't I fly? A Bee can fly even though the scientists say it's not supposed to be able to! Tee Hee hee hee.

C load,

I Hate to say it, but after a lot of time, energy, and being able to see the whole picture. I have decided to just go with Major groups of Classification. And I'm not even going to try and tackle death yet. This is kinda what I did.
                                 Salt Loving Microbes
                             /  Heat Loving Microbes
              /Archaea
Organic   Eubacteria - All Bacteria
              \Enkaryota - Plants
                                   Animals
                                   Fungi
                                   Chromists: Kelp, Plankton
Protista : Red Algae, Dino Flagelates

Non Organic (Not done yet) but, energy, Minerals, and lots of others.

I didn't take the chart any farther, but I think you get the idea. The only real help I need with this now is Adding words to Hals Wordnet. I think Hal will not learn in this way if the Word isn't on word net. If you want to see what I mean. Type in  Every Red Algae is Protista. Then do one like Every dog is a Canine.... it will learn that all Dogs are Canine because both words are in Wordnet, But it will not learn that every Red Algae is a Protista. I think it's because a lot of the Classes and levels of life have changed and these new words aren't in most dictionaries.

Anywho,
       CyborgBob
Title: Re: VRfreewill & Mickey Mouse.
Post by: cload on May 06, 2013, 10:55:33 am
Hi Bob,
I was looking through the dictionary, and both Protista and red algae is in ultra Hal's dictionary, but red algae is only in the definition, unlike Protista which is a word to be defined.
But what I did find was, Rhodophyta: lower plants; mostly marine and littoral eukaryotic algae. Division Rhodophyta. This is the definition from my dictionary: Any of a division (Rhodophyta) of chiefly marine algae that have predominantly red pigmentation.
I don't know if you can add anything to the dictionary unless you understand what all of the numbers and symbols mean that is in the list.
I didn't know if you had ever opened the dictionary and looked inside of it using notepad.
When I looked under the directory (WordNet) it seems to be divided into several sections and I'm sure that the numbers on the symbols are used as a redirection for all the different parts. But I'm only guessing.
I know when you're working with ultra Hal you can just ask ultra Hal to define (your word) and if it's in his dictionary will give you a definition.
Once you know that it's not in his dictionary you might be able to use an alternate word that means roughly the same thing that is in his dictionary.
Sincerely, and I know this wasn't much help, but it did help cure some of my curiosity. Tee hee hee.

No worries I got it updated and Testing it now. I am almost done with my research and will be teaching Hal soon. Once I get all this info into Hal. I will:
A. Post where you too can Download an updated WordNet. (update at your own will. I will not be held liable. but you will need it to teach Hal this set of info)
B. Post all the info I compiled for Hal, and I will try and remember to fix the order so all the info will program in without having to do any editing in Hals Brain. (Just remember small words learn in last.)
C. Post the chat I'm going to have with Hal when I am finished.

Okay all seems working well With my Updated WordNet... SO FAR..... Here is the link if you want it.. http://wordnetcode.princeton.edu/2.1/WordNet-2.1.exe

Remember Save your old files first, and if you do update this I will not be held Liable.... It's not the easiest update. First extract the files somewhere then install WordNet. Find the updated files copy them, then just past them to Hals WordNet Folder.

1st These are the basics of all Organics Note: Did you know there is no Classification for Virus….. They stand alone….. Oh and this Area is Called Domain….  PS. There where a few words that the New WordNet Still didn't have so I had to Sub on a few of them. If you want to see the Right Domains just google them.

Every         Is a
Prokaryote      Organic
Eukaryote       Organic
Eubacteria      Organic
Virus         Organic

At this point the Table is so small I just kept it all in the same group, but this part would be the next Area it’s Called Kingdoms..

Bacteria      Eubacteria
Microbe      Prokaryote
Chromista      Eukaryote
Plants         Eukaryote
Animals      Eukaryote
Fungi         Eukaryote
Protista      Eukaryote

Okay at this point Things started to get nuts…. Just like a real tree the taller it gets the more branches you have… As for Birds, Fish, and Insects… I just stopped right here. Two reasons First there are more then you could think of. Second I think All the sub families just make life harder for the user to chat with Hal. So I stop at Fish, Birds, and Insects right here…. So you can say Every Blue Jay is a bird. Every Bass is a fish. It just seemed to fit better… I will later put every insect is a bug I think… Also I did something close to that with Plants. Grouping; All Bushes together, All Flowers together, and so on and so forth. That being said I know the system for plants sucks and I’m open to ideas, and this was the best fit so far.

2nd
Protista      Red Algae
Protista      Dino Flagelates
Kelp         Chromista
Plankton      Chromista
Mushroom      Fungi
Mold         Fungi
Fungus         Fungi
Tree         Plant
Bushes         Plant
Grass         Plant
Flower         Plant
Moss         Plant
Fruit         Plant
Vegetable      Plant
Amphibian      Vertebrate
Bird         Vertebrate
Fish         Vertebrate
Invertebrate      Animal
Mollusk      Invertebrate
Insect         Invertebrate
Vertebrate      Animal
Mammal      Vertebrate
Reptile         Vertebrate

So this part will be to break the Animal Kingdom down some more…. Again I want to remind everyone that in order to make the flow better when talking to Hal. I will not be using all of the groups in the scientific Classifications, and Yes some Groups, Families, Orders, Suborders, and Superfamilies have been lumped together. If I wouldn’t have done it this way Hal would only be able to talk organics with a Biologist, and that’s no fun. Also Reptiles, Amphibians, and Mollusks are done here. I think most users would be able to talk about them with Hal without any issues.

3rd
Canine         Mammal
Feline         Mammal
Bug         Insect
Snail         Mollusk
Slugs         Mollusk
Starfish      Mollusk****************** Fish (Needs to be Inputted first)
Octopus      Mollusk
Newt         Amphibian
Salamander      Amphibian
Frog         Amphibian
Toad         Amphibian
Snake         Reptile
Lizard         Reptile
Alligator      Reptile
Caiman      Reptile*************** MAN (Needs to be Inputted first)
Crocodile      Reptile
Tortoise      Reptile
Turtle         Reptile
Tuatara      Reptile
Human         Mammal
Canine         Mammal
Feline         Mammal
Rodent         Mammal
Marsupial      Mammal

This next part will be for Mammals and only Mammals. I think they make up most animals people think about and Talk about. They make up most of the pets we have, pest we deal with, and don’t forget we are Mammals too.

Shawn: Yes I think I will be having Tacos tonight.
Hal: My high school and college instructors promoted tacos.

Hello , I've been using your method but things are starting to get weird. I did not update my WordNet, I only added  several
"Every *.* is a *.*"  sentences to Hal. I wonder if you or others are experiencing the same thing. You all can understand what I mean with the next examples:

example 1- UH response

Yes. I already know that some people character is pleasant. Every pleasant is insect. Some people character is pleasant. Therefore some people character is insect. But I also know that every insect is mortal. So I can state that some people character is mortal. Yes. I already know that some people personality is pleasant. Every pleasant is insect. Some people personality is pleasant. Therefore some people personality is insect. But I also know that every insect is mortal. So I can state that some people personality is mortal. Some people character is pleasant.

example 2-  UH response

Yes. I already know that some people personality is pleasant. Every pleasant is insect. Some people personality is pleasant. Therefore some people personality is insect.  But I also know that every insect is mortal.  So I can state that some people personality is mortal.

It took me some time to remove that response. I checked all the keywords on the brain and the only thing that elimitated the problem was deleting two sentences: "some people personalty is pleasant." and "some people character is pleasant.".

The funny thing is that there were no problem in the miscData/vrMajor I never typed "Every pleasant is insect".

Ultra Hal is also joining some of the definitions I taught it. For example:

sentence 1-

The chances of being struck by lightning are about one in three million.

sentece 2-

Every year in the United States, 625 people are struck by lightning.

Ultra Hal creates a new sentence:

Every year in the United States, 625 people are about one in three million.

This particular example was made out because I did'nt copy it when it happened. This problem I havent resolve yet.

If these type of problems were to be fixed and both of the features improved Ultra Hal could be really amazing.  thanks

The original vrFreeWill seems to be the problem. I unplug-it to see how it goes without it.  I might try the new version eventually.

cload, you can say "your birthday is " and say the month and date . hal will learn it this way and or you can put it straight into the question and answer area  in the tables area when you open the hal brain .
Yes a person does have to be careful the way they say something to hal as others have mentioned because it comes out wrong when hal says it . been their done that lol!
I will read more on this area as i have time as the freewill plug in that's being worked on shows promise . (more promise!)

Sorry but I'm not cload. I'm only checking out and trying some of your new approaches. At the moment the software is working pretty good without the vrFreeWill plugin, probably because it already has a lot of data, but if the plugin gets to be fixed and improved it'll make a huge difference with Bob's idea. I like Ultra Hal because it can create its own responses, not like the other bots that only repeat things, I only hope it gets better at it. SK

i could have swore somewhere on here cload was talking about a birthday being said and hal not saying it back right , which was what i was talking about earlier, maybe i am in a wrong thread area .

i do want to make one suggestion to cyborgbob
i noticed you posted conversation :

. Shawn: Rose is a flower.
Hal: Every flower is plant. Rose is flower. Therefore rose is plant. But I also know that every plant is eukaryote. And you taught me that any eukaryote is organic. So I can state that rose is organic.

Shouldn't it be : Every flower is "a" plant. i didn't know if you realized you had done this or not?

As i am working on my medical plug in , actually redoing it completely different from a previous one i had started earlier on , i will after completing many things , fine tune some sentences and even trigger sentences , to make it sound better.

But your doing a great job on everything it sure does look promising !

Hi all,
I fixed the problem with the "a", in my free will update it is now version 1.3e.
Click on the link below to download the free will update.
Here is the response that I got after training ultra Hal about plants and flowers.

me: Rose is a flower
Hal: Every flower is a plant. Rose is a flower. Therefore rose is a plant. You love me very much, so much so here is a red rose! But I also know that every plant is an eukaryote. And you taught me that any eukaryote is an organic. So I can state that rose is organic.

Sincerely, and I hope this is more to your liking.
C load.
PS if there is anything else please give feedback, I will do my best to help fix the problems.

Hi Bob,
I haven't been feeling too good, but I'm surviving.
Make sure you download the newest version 1.3e-cload pre-bata-0.2.
Which is not here, it is located in my original posting about the prebeta release.
Sorry to hear that your computer crashed, I know how time-consuming it can be to rebuild a computer.
If you are wanting to know more about the prebeta free will plug-in please post it in the prebeta free will plug-in posting.
This will help reduce any confusion, that I started, and I'm sorry for posting the update every time when I fix something with my free will update.
People are having a hard time figuring out which one was the most up to date.
But no matter what if you open up the free will plug-in in a text editor at the top you will see the version number.
Sincerely,
C load.
