Haptek - Putty Problem
« Reply #15 on: July 17, 2007, 10:12:03 am »
Is this just for People Putty or does it cover all Haptek stuff? If it means all kinds of Haptek material as I think it probably does then that would mean all of the videos people make will break the EULA terms as well.

It would also apply to web based things like bots too I can only assume at this point, as that is use of Haptek technology - and by nature those heads have to be distributed (downloaded).

Well, that's the way both the commercial and non-commercial
EULA's are worded. They both have the same clause.

I just heard back from haptek. Here is the response I got.
The print in red is their response to each question/issue.

Hi Tom,
What did the license error say? Did it say "cancelled due to over use" or some other message?

Please tell Jack Gephart to take the extended download service up with Digital River. I don't know of any reason for a license to suddenly become expired if there were no changes made to the PC in question. Can he contact me? Did he do any thing like change his new PC's OS or HD?

Hopefully we can handle each case on an individual basis. If you're in contact with these people please encourage them to contact our support channel. Some of these isses may have resulted from our recently moving our servers. We'll get this stuff worked out and sorry for any difficulties this may have caused.

Sincerely,
Jack

So I guess everyone can keep there web pages of
Putty heads and skins right where they are for now. [;)]
That is, as long as no one is selling them. Which
I was told before, would be a definite violation of
the non-commercial EULA that we agree to when we
purchase anything haptek.

If anyone else is having a problem
they can email there questions to - support@haptek.com

If you purchased the extended download service through
digitalriver when you bought PeoplePutty, you will have
to email the support service at digitalriver to resolve
the problem. Hopefully digitalriver will be as willing
to help with any problems you are having.

That's why I started this post, so everyone who uses Hal
with haptek characters, and may want to start making their
own to use and share would have as much info as possible
regarding any current or possibly future problems when
buying and using PeoplePutty.

We appreciate the updates Tom.
Important to know where we stand.
If they going to do us right, I'm thinking in near future to get the accessory maker. But don't want to buy, if they going to steal it back.

I was concerned about the videos as well. Since I am not making money, and actually making Haptek products more visible, I do not understand why they would have a problem with that. Someone even asked in one of my vids who the lady was (Crazy Arms). I told them it was a Haptek fullbody  girl. That may have inspired that person to Google it, and buy a Haptek product.

But, in today's age, what is logical does not always pass.

Heck, if they want to copyright everything, and make the internet boring, that would be a drag. That would also mean I would not buy anything else.  If people putty comes through this ok, I may buy it after all.

what is the use to create, if you cannot show it off???[:0]

I think we all just jumped to conclusions because we are on a issue that has a lot of gray matter. It's just like if you give a big dog a bone watch out that that big dog don't bite the hand that feed's it. We need to watch what we do so the big dog (Haptek) don't bite us. But I do think that it was because they got themselves new servers. Things screw up and people get lost. Why just GamerThom and I, I don't know but I am trying hard to give them the benefit of the doubt.[^]

They got the problem taken care of it was a false alarm. I don't know why it happened but just a little while ago I tried it again and I got a new unlock code for it. So Duskrider, get yourself that accessory maker. And make me some good stuff. All of you who were worried please set your minds at ease. It was just do to the new servers. I am thrilled and hope you all are as well, knowing your universe is still in line. I hope more of you do buy the program to take the heat off of me to produce heads and skins. Please buy the program, you won't regret it.

Glad to know you got some satisfaction Jack. [;)]

Meanwhile it looks like I may have to repurchase
it again. This makes the third time in 2 years. [V]
That is unless the guy I know at haptek can get
my licensing issue straightened out. Haven't
heard anything since that first email today.
