Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / new character new brain
« on: March 27, 2005, 05:21:58 pm »
Hi to everyone,
All your help is great, as i said in my earlier post i know nothing about programing.
I have printed out your suggestions and will have a go.

This might be some of my problems,
When i select advance options i get the same reply to all the different brains,
Have i loaded them properly or is this normal????????
Before i go ahead with any changes i will wait and see if i have stuffed up.
If that is so i will reload hal and start again.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / new character new brain
« on: March 26, 2005, 06:48:31 pm »
G'day, KnyteTrypper,
I realise that i can select what brain to use with a character,my question now is,
If i use the xtf 1.2 brain with two different characters will i end up with both knowing all the same information?
What i am after is different characters with different identities.
In the brain editor you can create a new brain but it gives you no choice as to what brain you can select.
Thanks guys for your answers,

Neil.

Thanks for your reply Ghostrider,
I know nothing about programing so i guess it's just stick with what i have.
I thought that i may have missed something in the editor that lets you select what brain to set up with that character.
The characters i have do not seem to be learning too well then i realised that they only had the default brain.
Again thanks,

Neil.   [:(]

I am going around in circles searching the forums for my answer.
I have used the brain editor to make new brains for my characters.
From what i can find out it uses the default brain to create them.
What i am asking is how do i create a brain for a specific character using any of the other brains.
Any help would be great.

Speech Technology / Voice site
« on: March 25, 2005, 02:32:54 am »
hello hollywood,
i had a similar problem with a voice that i bought.
the reply to my post from Mr M was as follows.
p.s. whether it will work with a trial voice who knows.

Although Ultra Hal recognizes the installation of your new voice, the Haptek player doesn't. Be sure to run the Haptek SAPI Config utility located in your start menu under the Haptek player. Simply run it and close it, restart Hal, and the voice will work.
 good luck

Ultra Hal 7.0 / People putty characters
« on: March 12, 2005, 01:08:58 am »
G'day Cadmar,
I have the paid version of hal and for a week or more could not get putty faces to operate in hal.
Every one kept telling me to change the .haptar file name to .htr,
which i kept on doing. Still didn't work even though it showed that the file name was changed.
Eventually i stumbled across the answer.
I am running xp home and even though i changed the file type, windows was not.
Do you get a warning when you change from .haptar to .htr,
IF YOU DO NOT GET A WARNING THIS SHOULD FIX YOUR PROBLEM.
FOLLOW THE SCREEN SHOTS I HAVE INCLUDED.

p.s. People putty save as haptar = correct.
If the above fixes your problem, after you save your putty face go to where you saved it to and change the file ext to .htr, you should get a warning that you are changing it, just accept it and ok the change.
As i said earlier i am running xp home, i suppose most other systems would operate in much the same way?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Character=Brain
« on: March 08, 2005, 06:02:58 am »
Correct me if i am wrong, but from what i have seen when you load a character you get the last brain selected. (or default )
Is there a way when you select a character that it automatically selects the brain that pertains to that character.

G'day Medeksza,
Thanks for your reply, it works great now.   [:D]
One more question if i may,
The voice has pitch and speed adjustment, but in hal there is nowhere to select this.
If i am wrong could you please tell me what i am doing wrong.
Thanks again,
Neil

Speech Technology / no lip sync
« on: March 07, 2005, 06:39:58 am »
I have just got a cepstral voice, but there is no lip sync.
The voice talks but the lips do not.
Currently i use lauren at&t voice which in hal shows no lip sync,
but lip syncs.
Cepstral shows no lip sync and doesn't.
Has anybody had similar problems.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / people putty faces
« on: February 24, 2005, 01:33:27 am »
This reply is about a week late.
Thanks to the members that emailed me with help.
Turns out that it was me or xp,---- finally went to folder options and found file types, told xp to accept htr and you little ripper,
all is well.
Have been trying to get putty faces to look like the photo's that i am using. (waste of time) they usually just turn out like putty faces
which look nothing like the photo's.
I asked Haptek about their full body which i wanted to alter, they said you can alter most everything, but the prog started @2500 US, too much for me down here in OZ.
Again thanks for your help

Ultra Hal 7.0 / people putty faces
« on: February 08, 2005, 07:12:32 am »
Still trying:
I have tried everything that all of you have said to try.
I can run the full body from the haptek guide plus i got one from desktop mates which also runs.
all of you seem to be able to run putty faces ok, but me, NO WAY.
i have sent an email to zabaware for help   (waiting for a reply)
I think that there is something in hal that is not working properly,
or is it me.
If anyone can help it would be great.
   Neil.

 Neil
P/S I enquired about haptek full body program and the reply was yes you can get it for a price starting from 2500 and still need other progs to work.

Again thanks   Knyte Trypper   [:D]
Yes Haptek site displays ok.

nolitanger_ I have tried everything, can you tell me how you changed the file to htr?
I bring up hal and my putty face and go to propertys and both are the same. That makes me think that there is something else that has to be done to get them working?   [?]

Knyte Trypper_Thanks for your reply
I can run my faces in the player,   I have paid version.
I have tried putting my htr in hal through copy paste from win explorer, re run hal but in char select it does not show.
I have tried rename Halbak and rename mine to hal still no show.
At the moment i am just going around in circles.
I am wondering if even though i can see my faces in haptek player
hal does not recognise them for some reason.
Again thanks
