Title: Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0
Post by: kevinvr on March 29, 2010, 10:39:16 am
Hi All
I just installed UltraHal on my new computer windows 7 64bit. I am trying to get the speech recognition working and having some problems.  I have selected Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows (English-US).
I have the following problems so far.
1. When clicking "Microphone Settings" button nothing happens.
2. When clicking "SR Engine Settings" button nothing happens.
3. When clicking "Voice training" button nothing happens.
4. When clicking "Edit Vocabulary" button nothing happens.
I have tried this with "Always listen to commands" box checked and unchecked.
The "Use Speech Recognition(You peak to Hal)" box is checked.
The biggest problem I have with this is that I cannot correct mispronounced words which I need to do now while Hal is new and still learning.
I will appreciate all the help I can get.
Please excuse me if this topic has been covered.
If it has can you please lead me to the correct thread?
Thanks in advance,
All the best,
Kevin

Hi Kevinvr

I never did get around to trying win 7 speech recognition.

When I used dragon 9 I didn’t set any of the speech recognition options in Hal at all, I would make sure the curser was in Hals input box and speak, dragon would put the words in, then I would check them for mistakes then I would press enter.

Is there now way you can get the win 7 version to just allow you to dictate into Hal like in a word document and then press enter?

hmm, that is interesting. I will try to see if I can do that.  Win 7's speech recognition engne is really the best I've used so far and it seems to recognize my South African accent very well. I use it for all commands etc. I'm not sure how to do what you are saying , but will try.
Thanks for the help.

i tried that but it doesn't work.  I thought that Ultrahal was compatible with win 7 , but it does not seem to be, maybe the next version will be more compatible.
