Ultra Hal 7.0 / Possible bug
« on: May 17, 2004, 01:33:43 am »
I wasn't sure if this is a bug or not as it only started happening after I switched to a new browser.

Well how was working great, then I decided to switch to mozilla's firefox 0.8 browser and chose it as my default browser.

Now when I click Ultra hal's menu and select "Upgrade Ultra Hal" , the program opens about 6 windows to the same web page :)

Like I said , I am not sure if it is a bug or not as I have not tryed reproducing it on my other computer.

I just thought I would mention it in case anyone else wants  to try and reproduce the bug.

Hope this is the right place to post this,

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Help with speaking
« on: October 14, 2003, 08:11:56 am »
Bill819,
It must be your copy of the program as it worked fine for me on the paid version of Ultra Hal 4.5. What I did was open up the happy birthday text file with internet explorer, then I hit CTRL+a to select all the text and then hit CTRL+c to copy all the text and opened up halpad and clicked it once and hit CTRL+v and pressed the microphone to hear him sing.

Hope that helps.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Any suggestions for Ultra Hal Assistant 5.0?
« on: October 01, 2003, 05:34:46 am »
Medeksza,
I just got my Hal 4.5 cd today and can't wait to see what version 5.0 is like :)

I'm on dial up so it's a pain to download them :)

As for my suggestion I would love to see implemented in version 5 or higher is the abuilty to run two brains at once, to lets say, have hal 5.0 talk with the alice brain.  Maybe by setting up a time limit on the sessions between the two brains this would be feasible.

I like Alice but Hal 4.5 has more know how then the Alice brain. Think if they were to talk for 20-30 minutes of what they would learn from each other.

And when I mean talk to each other I mean via one computer with out using the internet as a medium, i.e., not using the AIM bot to accomplish this.

My idea may sound silly, but I would love to see it worked on :) And thanks for allowing us that just registered to be able to upgrade to version 5 for free.

Thanks to both of you for your replys :) I am only tinkering with hals brain right now and have read alot of the previous posts on the message boards.  I like to tinker with the code to see what can be done as I am used to using quickbasic and can decode alot of the vbscript from my old days of quickbasic.

I have been playing with hal right out of the box so to speak from the huge download and really like it alot. I just want to try out some of the custom scripts that others have tryed out and then go from there.

The best thing I like about hal is the abuility to use vbscripting to modify his brain to act in a way he was not meant to in the first place. :)

I appreciate you two helping me out on my first day and I will try out the laugh script as suggested.

Thanks alot,

Don,
I am totally new to Ultra Hal as I am still waiting on the cd to arrive but did take the opportunity to download the program when I registered it. My question is thus, from time to time I see snippets of code posted to the message board along with brain <.brn> files.

I am guessing I add that code to my existing hal brain, but my problem is , I am not really sure where to add it to the brain file. Should I add it after
Sub Script_Load() or is there a special way to handle the snippets of code? And do I put the .brn files in the DefBrain folder?

I tryed adding the aliens script by doing what I talked about above but it did not seem to trigger any of the pre-programmed responses so I wasnt sure if I was doing it correctly.

Thanks in advance,
Trallyus
