Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal for girls...

Hi,

I am thinking about how Hal could be made more female-friendly...

I have a lot of top-level ideas including additional "girl-talk" topics, gender-specific compliments, female-friendly jokes, question/answer sequences (does my bum look big in this?) etc

I would appreciate any ideas / technical support in how to develop the following:
- improving Hals re-use of user information (eg. remembering her favourite colour, star sign, how many shoes she has etc)
- getting Hal to identify user's gender (initially by using a list of common male/female names, supported by some tactful questioning)
- allowing the user to assign a gender role to Hal (male/female/neuter: a male Hal would talk to a female user differently than a female Hally...)
- looking at what roles Hal could perform for female users eg. girl-friend, confidante, coach, sympathetic ear, relationship counsellor (God knows I need one of those!)

PS. If any women (or men) are offended by my light-hearted approach to girlifying Hal, please don't take it too seriously, I just thought it would be nice to have a bot around who doesn't wiggle its bum...and who can discuss chocolate in a meaningful way...[^]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Can I upgrade?

I am considering upgrading to 4.5 (I paid for 4.0 full version) but I don't want to download the demo 4.5 and risk overwriting my old one and losing what I already have (characters etc).

Please can someone tell me what I should do?

I have purchased V4 of Hal - I don't wish to pay full price again to upgrade to 4.5, please can you offer an upgrade price?
