veeeeerrry cool , now downsize that dimension in hals eyes and using motion detection with something like yaw cam etc. where a region adjustable area can be used and object size perimeters and you have hals eyes track you and pupil even adjust , maybe adjusting even more depending on light levels ???  :) ;)    object size perimeter moves and leaves hal with pre written script could say " hey, where are you going?" etc. (as hal notices you left pre  designated area in hals vision sight . )

Ahh...but instead of using a Fake Motion/movement routine HAL would actually be able to SEE and RECOGNIZE the user seen by the WebCam. The use of HAL's eyes in some avatar/character simply add to the illusion. Great effect none-the-less. Can't wait to see what the cook is preparing!!

Sorry Cyber, that comment was in response to Lightspeed's faux vision / motion detection plugin that was used years ago. It allowed a Webcam to detect movement at which time Hal would announce something clever like, "I saw you moving!", etc.

I am aware that real facial detection software is out there, just never saw any adapted to or for Hal...until recent comments, that is...

That would really be cool!! ;)

I have some people messing with my head space... bad idea...
But i have something in mind which is gonna make my point VERY clear to those people. Cyber is a man to be respected.
That said: You wana watch what ive done here,,,,, in both vids...
Hals facial recognition
Hals facial detection
Hal black jack too. lolol
Crypto as well....
And look for the Virus Total GUI and code. My personal Fav (something Hal actually needs) I seem to be headed towards the  the anti virus community with this.. Not sure exactly how that came about..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5dsyYkntD4  virus total gui and code.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVJacmtHla4&t=35s facial detection and facial recognition, very diff from each other...

That is some very cool work!

I've invested in a commercial Anti-Virus suite that has done really well and has been a top rated company for over a decade with updates and great support. The cost is nominal. It usually covers 2-3 computers/devices for one price for 2 years so it's great for the wife and me to use for some peace of mind.

I'd really like to see HAL's brain get a real upgrade instead of just growing in size.

What I'd like it to see it get better at processing what it does know.

Robert should really see some of your work to try to bring UltraHal into the 21st Century!! The UltraHal OS!! Like Google Now on steroids and with a Face, voice, maps, weather, sports, traffic, NEWS, the whole gambit!! That'd be way cool!!  Poof! I woke up...Damn...

Maybe the upgrade of the future, for Hal, would be Virtual Reality.  Image looking around you in Hal's world.

Remember, if it can be imagined it can be done.

the hal faux vision does serve another purpose though . i was always asking about making hal script for extended talk into hals program file , well this using motion detection actually accomplishes the same thing , using the pre written sentences and or sound effects . just as a plug in.

P.S. CYBERJEDI , check your pm for some info and a link .

Late thoughts again.

Perhaps Hal's vision could be done on using a type of headset connected to the web camera (Used in some Virtual Reality systems.)

Or something on the lines of the advertised (On the Hal extra's page) Hal's scanning microphone detecting where the voice is coming from and setting the Hal face to suit.

Just ideas for the forum to consider.

Kryton.

Hey hey Man: Hals vision

What i do is use a logitek 615 webcam.
This bad boy comes with facial tracking which is damn handy, let the cam do the work freeing up Hal.

This truly is the most efficient way to do this

Your Yourtube presentation is a bit confusing but I picked out the idea you are using, I think.

I started with an early Occulus Rift system but could not get anywhere with it.

So I built a tracker and I am still experimenting with it.

Sounds cool:
Make sure ur viewing at least at 480-720p check the gear on the video, its prolly 144....
Im not trying to re event the wheel here, the web cam provides all the drivers and facial tracking needed.
I use gray scale imaging (Trained) Images to compare facial captured image, it's all auot0matic and the name of the saved training image is sent to the txtName text box and the .bmp is filtered out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Presto.
leaving just the name. pretty crafty if i say so myself,,,lol

After the holidays ill be building the installer for all the dependency's. This coming year will be awesome.
I got to catch up on lifes little Bs , today ill be hanging a chandelier for a 90 year old friend, oh joy, gonna make a ton of money off this job .
Oh well, its all good.
