I meant to say thanks for this the other day, so thanks!

I didn't have this, it's great you put it up because it gives us an idea of the kind of hair detail needed.  I won't go on about it here as I posted my wig changes on the other pages, along with some help on textures.

Does anyone have a mind-numbingly fast graphics card, because I'm wondering if some of my rendering probs might be due to my older graphics card?

The new wig textures have been posted in the file sharing area, any comments or troubles then please let me know.

============================================

At last I got them downloaded!  There's two new wigs here, I had to break up my filing a bit to download them.  The texure's home should be in the 'colourhair' folder, so that's where they need to go after you've downloaded.  I'll post more at some point too.

There's a couple of main HAP files that can be used for drop and drag.

I've put in a help page as I did have some trouble with the textures loading on my pc.  There's also some help/advice about making the texture files.

My juggling tricks managed to get the models smiling, always works a treat that.  Enjoy and let me know any problems!

Yeap that all looks familiar to me.  The only other thing I can suggest is checking you've got all the mic/volume/talk... elements still in there.  I found that removing them gave me an error report - it might even be the same one.

It doesn't like to play without a full deck, even if you don't use the mic/vol buttons etc.  Mine was rejected when I removed the reference to the mic.jpg, even though I didn't put it on the skin.  I just gave it a path to one of my jpgs, but positioned it someplace where it couldn't be seen.

I worked it out by looking at Dr Benway's (unknowingly at the time(thanks!)) dat/uhp files in one of his skin plugins.  Perhaps he can lend a hand here.

you need to keep the same path structure in your plugin folder as is used in the haptek folder.

ie plugin folder\skins\your.jpgs

mirrors the

haptek\.....\skins\jpgs path.

does that make sense?

Otherwise double check your file names.

To clarify:

you should have a plug in folder like this:

plugin folder\
.................containing dat and uhp files
.................skins folder\
.................................containing jpg files

This matches the layout at the bottom end of the Haptek folders and the plugin will know where to put things.

Maviarab and anyone else interested,

Yep, sorry, I'm posting some hair changing haps and details tomorrow.
I was having a few teething problems with the fiddly texture handling, but I think it's sussed out now.

Try as I might I can't alter *Hair5_9EXP, but tomorrow you'll have some Haps and a few new hair textures that work on the Bob hair.  I've only worked on this one, as the textures take a lot of time to get right, in fact they will probably need more work, but it will give you all something to work with.

More info in less than 24 hours, promise!

Cheers,
*well, I CAN alter it, but it's too blocky...
btw I am posting them in the file sharing area.

i agree, this is a fine think-tank.

Blender has been mentioned a couple of times in a few places now, with this is mind I think i saw that one of the tools that Haptek supplies can take 3D objects and convert them to Haptar/Htr objects.

Soo, in theory you could make something using blender and get it into the Haptek engine.

I've downloaded the new version of Blender, so I'm looking forward to another weekend of 3D mayhem and sore eyes!

I'm going to find out the prices on these haptek tools.  Will let you know.

thanks.

Hmm, Blender is really becoming a class act, I was playing around with it a bit a while back and found it was really nice to use, and I managed to get some animations going without too much trouble.  I had  a space ship flying down a canyon being chased by a cop spaceship.  I was prety chuffed with myself.

Some of the things people produce on it are breathtaking, I'll take a look again, thanks for the tip.

By the way, I haven't had much progress on the hair front, but I have managed to change the witch_hair htr and still retain the fine details.  If anyone wants the low-down let me know.

Can you make wigs and export them using People putty?

I seem to be obssessed with wigs at the moment!!

yes - sorry, i corrected it.

i forgot to mention that all that has to be done on the first tuesday of a month, within a 30 Day trial period, south of the equator, after you have activeted the software, registered it, disabled the registration prompt, entered the keycode, emailed support for help, waited three weeks for a reply that they no longer provide support and well before you are offered an upgrade.

I've managed to get a texture onto the hair wig along with the fine details, but can't find a way to get it on the haptek.

Hey junglegirl!

In reply to Dr Benway - no further progress. I can get decent looking textures, but the wig is still blocky, with lack of individual strands as in hair5_9EXP.  I too tried a profitless run into settexture land but to no avail.  I think it's got something to do with the alpha settings?!?!?$!"£$"

There (other than the aplha setting) must be a way to do transparency.

I'm glad I'm not a hairdresser!

wow - it's nice to see it being used!  Thanks for the kind comments, I'm glad you find it useful.  I should trim the edge down, so you can see more of your desktop -  tell you what, I'll do one that only uses two thirds of the screen.

Stay tuned..

Rog.
