hal does not want to work!
« on: May 03, 2005, 07:34:20 am »
hi - hal just doen't want to say hello!

The program installs fine, most of the options on the right-click
menu of the hal icon seem to work like the brain editor etc.

Problem is left-clicking the hal icon to actually run hal just freezes up my pc completely.

I've looked for system requirements but can't seem to find any.
My PC isn't runnig a lot as I completely reset it, so there's no Virus software or firewalls.  It's running (or not!) on a celeron 1GHZ with windows 98.

Would Direct X version make any difference?
I'm using a Radeon 9000 video card.
Soundcard is SB compatible by 3com.

As you can see my PC isn't really top of the range(!), but I would have thought it would be able to run this okay.

Thanks if anyone can help.

ITS OKAY.

I have fixed it - updating direct X to v9 sorted it out.

Just for the record though, it seems to work okay with
Bullguard Firewall and Virus scan.

Thanks anyway!!

Hi Freddy.

You can also update your VBScript engine with newer .dll files for HAL
and other Brains to prevent alot of issues using different VBScript methods.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?freetext=vbscript+update&productID=&DisplayLang=en

This above download is from Microsoft so choose the Windows Script 5.6
update for your version of windows.

This update will prevent alot of future errors that make occure if you get involved with experimenting with your bots brain which most everybody does.

Many happy wishes and brand new discoveries.
