Ultra Hal 7.0 / Repeat
« on: March 31, 2007, 08:41:46 pm »
Hi I have had hal since 5.0 but I never really messed with its internal files like i have with alice. In the script that was written above.... how would you use it... paste it in a txt file and rename its extension to .uhp? I have scoured the forums her looking for tutorials so that I could become more proficient with this sort of thing as I am messing with hal alot more now. Also cant seem to get hal to find the help files, probably because I am runnign winxp64. I posted about this in another thread but then I posted that I had found my answers with hal 6.1. Any help or links would be great thanks and sorry for the double post about the help file issue.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Teaching Hal
« on: March 31, 2007, 04:22:15 am »
One more question? I am running hal on winxp 64... What folders do hal scan for help files in? Maybe my hal is scanning program files instead of program files (86). If this is the case, then could the path be changed?
Thanks.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Teaching Hal
« on: March 31, 2007, 03:12:48 am »
Got a question... Hal 5.0 had the ability to teach Hal from a txt file. 6.0 does not. Is there any way to feed Hal a large amount of information other than just a sentence at a time. Like create a full file with if statements or can hal use aiml is there a plug in that works with 6.0 ? Thx in advance.

I to never got a 6.0 cd. I ordered within like two weeks of hal 6 and I remember I got to download it(Free Upgrade). Is the trial version turned in to the full version when you enter your activation key. I just wanted to play with it again and all I got is the 5.0 cd.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hey I am messing with hal again!
« on: August 01, 2006, 10:00:04 pm »
That should not be an issue. I have all of my info in my gmail. I just remember the first time I downloaded it from a confirmation link, and the file was alot larger than 19MB. I'll give it whirl. I should just download the trial and enter my key after I deactivate it from my other pc that I had it installed on right? If I have any troubles Ill post again. Thanks.

I just recently bought a Mac and it has amazing speech software. Is there a Mac version available? Also I bought Hal during its transition from 5 to 6 and I was given a free upgrade to 6 also I was suppied with a link to download it. I go to the link now and it is a trial version. How would I go about downloading the full version again. Thanx.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Have Hal modify his own thought processes
« on: December 25, 2005, 06:28:28 am »
So what is the verdict on the subject? Grant? Bill? ...I have been following this topic since I discovered it and I hope that this idea is pursued further. I think that this would be a very popular plug-in. Since we are on the topuc of chess... wouldn't a chess program be considered a form of ai since these programs have the ability to decide on their own which move to make next?

I just want to add 2 cents.

I had some computers troubles and did restores and ended using up my "4 installs".  I knew nothing of deactivating Hal before computer restore as it wasn't necessary with Hal 5.

Is this really true with hal6? You only have 4 re-installs? I am a tekkie I do this for employment and pleasure. So I often install different os's to play with or have to reinstall the one I am using because I have harshed it from something that I was tampering with. Lucky for me Hal is on my laptop and I try not to use it for a crash machine. I just want to verify if this is true about hal.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / General Knowledge plug in.
« on: November 13, 2005, 08:12:44 am »
Maybe I misworded my post. I downloaded and installed hal5_XTF_v1 from zabaware to my hal from a fresh install. Then I downloaded the 200422923615_hal5_XTF_v1.2 frim the link that Dr.Benway gave me in this forum. Then I got the trivial knowledge plug in and the instructions state...

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1) Copy the "XTF_SYS_GeneralInfo.brn" file into the "Ultra Hal Assistant 5  DefBrain" directory.

2) Cut and paste the script in the "GENERAL & TRIVIAL KNOWLEDGE FUNCTION.txt" file into your XTF Brain v1.2 "hal5_XTF_v1.2.uhp" file. Ideally it should be placed below the "RESPOND: CALL CAPITALS FUNCTIONS" function and above the "RESPOND: DICTIONARY FUNCTION" function.

3) Turn on Hal and ask, "What can you tell me about dogs and cats?". Hal should give an answer mentioning "relevance" and include some thought about dogs and/or cats.

This is why I am expecting a reply stating something about relevence. I simply want to know if I did this right or if it is working properly
and the documentation says that hal should state something about relevence.
