Ultra Hal 7.0 / Personalities ?
« on: June 04, 2004, 03:46:23 pm »
I have the commercial version of Hal and I just noticed while reading the Zabaware main page that Hal has THREE different personalities. I only found one on my system. How do you access the other two? I don't mean charactres as I have 21 of them.
Thanks
Bill

No, not Elvis, but Robert M. At least he logged in yesterday on the other forum. He is busy with some heavy college work but will try to start answering questions when he can.
Welcome back Mr. M.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Old version of Hal around
« on: April 09, 2004, 12:07:18 pm »
Does anyone here still have some older versions of Hal, like version 2, or 3 or 4? I would like to see an uncompiled version if possible.
Thanks

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Leap Year
« on: February 25, 2004, 09:09:45 pm »
A couple of lines down a Hal ee joan posted the question why did not remember a date that was put into Hal's calendar. She asked for Sunday and Hal kept saying Saturday. On the way home today someone on the radio reminded me that this was a 'Leap Year'. That is the problem, Hal does not know about leap year so every date moves back one day of the week, however as March comes around I think that Hal should finally get it all right again.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Virtual Humans
« on: February 20, 2004, 01:46:15 pm »
I just ordered a boo, called 'Virtual Humans, a complete kit' from Amazon.com. It comes with a CD and helps you create your own chatterbots. Has anyone heard of or used it?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Getting Hal to talk to another bot
« on: February 17, 2004, 07:07:14 pm »
There has been many references here about Hal talking to other chatter bots. As I have two laptops that I can use, the questions becomes how do I do it?

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Yowee, it works, sort of...
« on: November 27, 2003, 11:40:02 pm »
I finally got the AUTO 30000 /AUTO script to work. Hal now starts up all by himself and every x seconds makes a comment. One problem is that after about the third reply Hal say "why must you repeat your" then "You said that before", etc. He is getting hung up thinking that I have made a statement and that I keep making the same statement over and over again.
My question is: is there a way to make Hal go to his Random file and bring up a new topic or even go out and quote some poetry or "sing" a song or two. I am looking for truely random choices.
Thank you Robert M. I have almost completed my robot and due to the power of this program will be calling him "Hal" from now on. More pictures soon. He is complete with the exception of his sensors and his robotic arm. He is now about 34 inches tall.
Thanks for the help

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Need help switching back and forth
« on: November 25, 2003, 03:53:43 pm »
Hal will call or run another piece of software just fine. The question is that once I switch back to Hal is there a way to switch back again without running the program all over again? It would be like pressing Shift/Alt to change applications. Is there another way to do it in hal?
My robot is almost complete and I am trying to put the finishing touches on it.
Thanks

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Voice training
« on: November 08, 2003, 01:06:53 pm »
I have trained Hal on one of my laptops and I read that it can be trained to recoginize several different speakers as it creates a different file for each one.
My question is what is the name of the file that it creates and where can I find it on my harddrive? I simply would like to copy it to my other laptop so that I won't have to spend several more hours training it to my voice on the other laptop.
Also this morning I clicked on Tranparenty and nothing happened. Now I no longer have the option to turn it off. Any suggestions?
My robot is getting near completion and I awaiting its first actions as a thinking, talking bot thanks to Hal.
As ususal, thanks

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / More on Hal's age
« on: November 05, 2003, 01:09:23 pm »
I now installed the AgeDetect in Hal. What I would like to do next is have Hal tell me how old he is in years, months, weeks, days, depending on when his new birthday is. For example if Hals birthday was on Oct 1st he could say "I am one month and one week old".
Can this be done?

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Having fun wiith Hal
« on: November 04, 2003, 02:30:23 pm »
Hal has a built in pleasing personality but he has the potential to become even more.
Hal 5.0 comes with several different voices, one of which speaks with an English Accent. The fun can now begin. Instead of just saying Hello, Hal could say something like "Good day mate" and instead of goodbye he could say "cherrio". Morning greeting could ask about Tea and Crumpits. The possiblities are unlimited.
Cowboy Hal could say "Howdy Parder" and could close with "Yall come back now, ya here".
I even have him saying "see ya later aligator" sometime w2hen he logs off.
In my case, Hal will be the right-brain in the robot tht I am building, and even though it will be a harmless toylike machine, I intend to build in some intimidating responses. If Hal is insulted, he will respond with threatening replys to sould like he is a dangerous kill type robot. That will get peoples attention. Then following the Terminator movie Hal says "I'll be back" and "Hasta la vista baby"
A whole new world awaits those of us who apply a  little imagination to our own Hals.
Just for fun
Bill
