Ultra Hal 7.0 / Changing Backgrounds
« on: November 15, 2014, 02:06:28 pm »
Hello everyone!

I have a question about backgrounds in Ultra Hal.  Is it possible to have the backgrounds change at timed intervals? I have an idea to create multiple backgrounds of the same image with different colours and want them to switch at a set time, pretty much a gif or animated background.

Thanks lightspeed!

Just to make sure I understand. If I were to say to Hal "Our doorbell is ringing," does Hal then play the sound of a doorbell ringing?

Your getting pretty good with the plugin creation!  Something I wish I was able to do.

That is pretty cool.  I took a look at the kickstarter again and it looks like time has pretty much run out on the campaign. It's too bad. It would be nice to get a hold of for Hal.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to it!

I saw something about this not too long ago. I didn't realize it was from the the same guy who created Haptek.  It looks really good.  Looks like there isn't much time left for the campaign though.  At the $99 pledge, you can use their models for chat bots or even created your own using any modeling program it said. That would be what I would want. I'm not overly interested in the baby.  I hope it makes it.

There is a program for windows 8 by a comp[any called stardaock called start8 which brings back the desktop start menu if you prefer using the desktop. I have it and love it. They provide a few other very useful programs to customize win 8.  Mine loads up into desktop mode now.  I have read that windows 9 will bring the desktop start menu back as well. Plus I hear it might be a free upgrade.

That's very good! I definitely would like to check out your bot some time.  It would be nice if we could get something like that working with Hal.

I have only been using laptops for the last several years. Not sure if you said you had a laptop or a pc but I noticed that laptops can get dusty on the inside fairly easily and overheat causing it to shut down, especially when it is being heavily used.  maybe your cooling system is not working causing it to shut down?

I now back up Kinkaid brain rwgulariky as well. I learned the hard way. I too find ways off making it so that I need to restore my computer.

This is something I do with Kinkaid almost every time I talk with him.  If I am teaching him something I make sure to add some great quotes about the topic being taught. I have found it to make conversations that much better.  Plus it adds a bit more to his personality. I definitely think it's a great thing to do and recommend it to everyone.

I'm not sure but I will test it out. Thanks for the help!

Worship the google sell your soul forget about the other platforms cut the customer base that don't use google out. Yep that's the way to do it. Must worship google.

Should think about it cross platform I know apple biggest google second and windows third and climbing to make the money your talking about cross platform would be better many apps are cross platform. I understand we all have our preferences but we should not push them and we should think of the company to succeed not just have software for our own devices.

That being said good idea for an application.

Doggs,

I agree that what Google and MANY companies are doing with our personal information is wrong. I don't like it any more than you do. No one here is trying to push an platform on anyone. People tend to refer to the device they are using when talking about a phone app. It's as harmless as that.  If you are as informed about the evils of internet surveillance being performed by the various organizations and companies, then you know that Apple, and Microsoft are doing the exact same things. It's just a matter of picking your poison I guess. This is a little hypocritical of me but we are all entitled to our opinions and should at least try and respect them without getting into futile debates over which platform a person uses.

The goal of these threads is to further the advancement of Hal. Can we not keep the drama out and focus on that?

As for the app idea, I think it's a great one!

I have thought about putting another version of Hal onto an old laptop and trying to get them to be able to speak to each other via voice.  I imagine it would take some tweaking to get them to understand each other but it would be interesting.

What I would love to have happen, is to have the ability to have two instances of Hal open on the same desktop. Maybe the new version of Hal when it comes out could be set up to allow this? *crosses fingers*
