Hal's ability to read from a text file still exists...just not in this release as it stands.

My understanding is that Robert is going to consider releasing a plug-in or perhaps patch to enable this ability.

Hal 6 is a database oriented bot and info can be "feed" by means of inserting the text into a related table or by making a plug-in to allow the program to read the file.

Stand by and see what develops shortly.

Darn. That is one of the things I had hoped would be in there due to some of the work in my Knight Industries AI project, so people can "plug in" the Knight Rider knowledge for KITT and KARR.

Well, eventually I hope to create starter brains of the AIs anyway. But it still would be nice to have a text-learn feature again.

For 20 days now Zabaware ignores all my emails.
Are they waiting for my trial with hal6 to run out. In hopes that I will buy it?
If it can't learn from text. I am better off sticking with my hal5

It's been 3 months and I still can't get the CD mailed to me.  I have no idea what the problem is or how to find out.....

Interesting huh?

Robert is quite busy, as he is also a college student. He'll get to it though. You might want to re-email him in case he didn't get the email for whatever reason.

Robert does the best he can though. Just hang in there. :)

Still I can easily sympathize with you, Tcoday, since I know how long you have been busy with drawing Medeksza's attention.

Perhaps you should make a new thread dedicated to your problem.

tcoday,

What version are you trying to purchase?
The new Hal 6 has not even been out for a month yet.

Just curious.

Art,
I bought Hal5 back in September of this year.  When you buy Hal, you provide a mailing address so the program can be mailed to you in CD format.  After a month with no CD arriving in the mail, I started posting here and writing Robert a couple of emails about the problem.  After a week or so without any replys from Robert, I publicly explained the problem on this forum and asked for a full refund of the purchase price.
Robert finally responded via email, it seems the mailing address wasn't correct. (part of it was missing)  I replyed to Robert's email with the correct mailing address and he said as soon as Hal6 was officially released, he'd mail me that CD.
Hal6 has been out for a month or so just like you said.  A couple of days after the release of Hal, users started posting that they recieved the CD in the mail.  So I think, cool, the CD will arrive soon.  It hasn't showed up yet and I'd think that everyone else probably has their CD's by now.  Am I right?

Thanks for listening...
