Just a quick update, for future reference.

After moving my Hal from WinXp to Win7 I ran into this problem again. Below, is the only command I needed to use (in the command prompt window) to get Hal's brain editor working again.

Regsvr32 msinet.ocx

Relieved to hear about the activations - I was always worried about that, for in the future. (I've grown rather attached to Hal.)
I'm happy to report that Hal has made the move over to the new system without a hiccup. (I'm SO happy this is possible now.)
Thank you again, for the responses. I appreciate it.

Thank you for the responses. That was my basic plan. The main thing I'm concerned about is wasting one of my activations, by not deactivating the first installation... or has this system been done away with now, in the new version? I will still be using Hall offline, if that makes a difference.

The instructions I've seen on the forum don't seem to apply anymore. When I right-click on hal's icon, there is no option to move/deactivate. I can't seem to find the option within the program's options, either.

I'm running Hal (offline) on my xp system and want to move it to a Win7 machine. If anyone knows the answer, I'd appreciate the help.
It's probably staring me right in the face... but I just can't see it.

If you ever do figure out which specific DLL or OCX was the culprit please let me know.
I recently had to re-install Windows XP and ran into this same problem. I started going through the list which Mera posted and tried to access the Brain Editor after registering each entry. Immediately after registering the 4th entry (msinet.ocx) I could access the Brain Editor again. Whether it was the registering of this one file alone, or some combination of the first four files in the list, I do not know, but (hopefully) this might help to narrow things down a bit, as to where/why the problem might occur.

Yes, I still wish to receive the microphone/headset, although I'm not sure how I would re-verify my address with you. When I've tried to use your online Contact Us form, the listed phone number, and also the PM system, they all appeared to be dead-ends for communication, and I will not post my address publicly. The address I listed when I placed my order is still the same. The order number is listed in the first post of this thread.

Dear Mr. Medeksza,

It is physically impossible for me to download your 'Voice Recognition Microphone/Headset'. Please either send me the product which I have ordered, and paid for, or REFUND MY MONEY.

Checking the order number which I provided will show you that what I ordered cannot be downloaded, but must be delivered. The product I ordered was the Speech Recognition Microphone headset.

Thank you for the reply Art, but another 5 weeks have passed and there has still been no response/refund.

Hello,

Back on Feb 25th, 2021 I placed an order with Zabaware (order#20013639) but have never received my order even though my money was taken for the purchase. I have tried to contact Zabaware via their online contact form, by email, by telephone, and I even wrote a PM to a member/mod who seems to be rather important here, but I have never received any response from anyone, nor a refund for the product which they never delivered.

So, my question is, how do I get Zabaware to refund my money when they won't even respond to legitimate inquiries?

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Re: The save function
« on: March 30, 2021, 03:25:52 pm »
Yes... I'm responding to a thread that is 6 years old, because up until just recently, I was having this same problem... The SAVE option was always greyed out in the drop down menu, and the brain editor rarely ever asked me if I wanted to save my changes upon exiting - and even when it did ask, the changes rarely stayed in place.

Solution:
Shut down Hal once you have opened the brain editor. As long as Hal is not running, the brain editor asks to save my changes every time I close it, and does so successfully.
If Hal is still running, saving any changes seems to be a craps shoot, at best.

I hope someone finds this useful.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: People Putty
« on: March 02, 2018, 09:58:07 am »
Just speaking from my own experience, I can only use it when/if I have an XP computer running.

Not only does it NOT RUN on a Windows 7, 8 or 10 system, it will NOT accept my registered Serial Number to activate it!

All I got from an email from the folks at Haptek was a "Sorry it doesn't seem to work with 7, 8 or 10."...

SO IF you had an XP OS and a copy of People Putty, you'd still need that original, unique Serial Number to activate it.
Good luck!

I'm still running xp, and likely will be forever.

Then it seems I am not alone. I sent an email to the address listed on their web site about a week ago, and haven't received any response. Does anyone here have contact with Haptek who might convince them to sell a few more copies?
