not understanding speech
« on: March 27, 2006, 10:18:48 am »
I am using Dawne from desktopmates. Whenever I try to use the Microphone, I press the scroll lock button, and it first says --Dawne is listening-- for commands. Then when I talk, it says ---Dawne is not listening--- didn't understand your request. What am I doing wrong? Is there a list of commands somewhere so I know exactly what to say? Also, do I have to press the scroll lock key everytime?

Thanks for reading.

From your post I take it that you are using Dawne as a Microsoft Agent character as opposed to using it with HAL.

If this is the case you might want to check the settings with that particular agent character regarding mike settings, etc.

Does your taskbar show a small microphone near the bottom right?

Have you tried using it (the mike) with other speech programs?

A little more detail might help pinpoint your problem.
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!
