I noticed that in version 5 you could copy brain files into the default brain folder. is there a way to import brains into version 6? specifically the Alice brain? thanks.

Well, I found the "Import Brain" tool in the brain editor, but I get an error when trying to import the brains in the plugins on this site. I'm assuming they are only for older versions. Does anyone know if there are brains for 6.0+ available on the web somewhere?

The only way to have a copy of older brains is to have bought them in the first place. Then when ever you upgrade you still get to keep a copy of your older brains. Asking someone for a copy of an older brain is piracy and is illegal.

Oh, I wasn't aware that you could buy them. I only saw the brains in the plugins section of this site. They were free to download, so I thought that was how it worked. My bad.

The brains in the plugin section are free to download...not sure what Bill means.

The brains in the plug-in download section are all for Hal 5.
Brains for Hal 6.0 - 6.2 are only available to the individual owner of Hal and as such, are not generally interchangeable nor sharable with others, meaning that you would need to be an owner of the program in order to have the brain in the first place.
Perhaps this is to what Bill was alluding.
You buy Hal, you develop his brain as you see fit not as someone else does.
There are numerous plug-ins to enable Hal with different abilities but they are only a small portion of Hal's larger brain.

Yes that makes sense Art... thank you.
