Can Hal close program, etc...or just open
« on: December 18, 2005, 10:29:41 am »
Thinking this program would be great if it could not only open programs, but also close them.  Can Hal...or any other program anyone's aware of...using voice recognition, do these functions and other funtions or be trained to do these funtions?

I think Art or someone else wrote a script to handle this about a year ago. Search the files.

It was Rich_A.
Do a search in the members area for him and view his archived posts.
I think it was for a program he was working on for Hal.

I'll try to locate it for you if I find the time.

In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!

I think I remember reading something about him having two desktop shortcuts....one that actually pointed toward opening the program and the other named differently of course so Hal would identify it, which had a batch file it actually executed and the batch file contained the necessary commands to end the program......that's what I remember..... what suprised me was how ingenious it was, batch files were used all the time in the 'old dos days'

If my memory is accurage he had written some batch files to close popular microsoft programs for people to download......gosh that was a while ago....
