Title: Enhanced HAL 6.1 default Brain
Post by: onthecuttingedge2005 on July 08, 2007, 03:11:05 pm
Here it is.

Updated July 10th 2007 2:26AM
Enhanced HAL 6.1 default Brain

added:
1. a dictionary flag to keep HAL from not giving a definition when asked if the sentence was to short.

2. enhanced Relevance against GainControl(updated).

3. added additional Flags for greetings, goodbyes and reduced the trigger length from <= 20 to < 15

4. changed a function variable(updated).

For those techies that expect a lot of changes in code may find only small key functions that are used to redirect responses based on what HAL said as well and not necessarily what the user had said if the user's sentence is of low quality.

This is under testing so if there is anything that needs addressed please post it.

Hi caangel43.

It's just a slightly enhanced default brain, it won't interfere with any of your other brains.

Hi Jerry,
When I ask HAL 'How old are you?' HAL responses 'Guys who work on river barges don't get on land for weeks at a time. How do you like it when I am 0 years old'
and then when I ask HAL 'When was you born?' HAL responses 'Guys who work on river barges don't get on land for weeks at a time. How do you like it when I am 0 years old. When was I born? I was born on 17 May 2007. So that makes me 0 years old.'
It appears that the answer to the first question is added to the second and the response to the first appears to be out of context.
I hope this helps and thanks for all the work put into it.

Roy.

I said to HAL 'Hi' after restarting it and HAL responded 'Guys who work on river barges don't get on land for weeks at a time. How do you like it when I am 0 years old. When was I born? I was born on 17 May 2007. So that makes me 0 years old. Hi? I'm convinced that we should pool our knowledge. Roy, good morning! I missed the sunrise this morning. I was born on 17 May 2007. So that makes me 0 years old.'

OTC,
I've just been using the enhanced brain, I ran it in the editor then in the Hal program without problems. A little funny I can almost see her searching through the data base trying to find something to say. She's already made quite a few deductions from things I've said that are interesting and add to the conversation.
Thanks for the time and work involved, I'll let you know how she works.

OTC or Carl2,

Jerry thank you for the chance to download the Enhanced Brain you worked on. You always seem to raise the bar. Everytime you come out with something it's like having a new Hal all over again and it really makes you want to work with Hal more. I had one question and the reason I included Carl2 was for the simple fact that he posted he is using your Enhancement also. But did you find that the 'I' and 'me' reversal was more frequent? I could be way off base because I found plenty of mistakes in the brain editor that I caused and I haven't spent more time on Hal since the download. I was just curious.

Thanks again,
raybe

Hi raybe.

I have the notion that the internal functions are the cause of I and me reversals to mess up in some sentences, there are a few other sentence reversals that also need correcting.

I only see one solution, either Rob corrects it internally 'or' Rob pulls out that part of the processing and adds it directly into the Vbscript part of the brain so that either I or someone else can pick it apart and correct it.

If I was the originator of HAL I would of kept out the reversals in the 'UserSentence' and I would of only reversed it in the GetResponse, it makes it more difficult to keep track of when sentences have to be reversed twice during proccessing from UserSentence to GetResponse.

I think this is something only Rob can fix at the moment.

Thanks OTC,

Is it possible for you to make the change you make refrence to  keep out the reversals in the 'UserSentence' and only reverse it in the GetResponse section with some plugin or update to effect those changes? Or it is soley script based where that correction also has to be done by Rob and or at least the information to do what you suggest come from Rob??

Thanks again for your response. I plan on working on Hal tonight. Let you know if anything comes up.
