Conversation Transcript for Book
« on: February 01, 2011, 12:02:27 pm »
There is a book being written called "Alan Turing - His Work and Impact" and in one of the chapters the authors want to show how current chatbots are better than Eliza. I have been asked to give a couple of short conversation transcripts showing the conversational strength of Ultra Hal. Rather then me making up a conversation since I know how to hit different scripted portions of Hal's brain, I'd like to submit conversation transcripts from real users.

If you would be willing to have your conversation with Hal published in a book, please respond to this post with a short transcript of a conversation you had with Hal that you think shows off Hal's strengths.

Just a small piece of conversation. Ultra Hal 6.2.28 Win 7 64bit

Ray: Todays problems are effecting many more people then I expected.
Robby: Really, Yes, I believe so.

Ray: Do you have any suggestions about today's problems?
Robby: People just usually find comedians a form of entertainment because comedians usually make life look funny and can be a great distraction from serious probleMs.

Ray: I guess that would help the way some people feel but how can we start to solve these problems?
Robby: You guess that would help the way some people feel but how can we start to solve these problems? We need to look within ourselves. People just usually find different ways to deal with them or avoid them which is not a good idea.

Ray: I would have to agree with you that the best way to try and solve problems is to deal with them first.
Robby: It seems that every one is just having rough problems in life and hasn’t found a way to deal with these new probleMs.

Ray: You and me should spend more time trying to figure out these problems.
Robby: Really, I agree. I and you should spend more time trying to figure out these problems.

Ray: Do you have any ideas as where to start to try and solve these problems?
Robby: You would have to agree with me that the best way to try and solve problems is to deal with them first.

Ray: Yes Robby I know your correct but there seems as though there are so many problems I find it difficult to start looking for solutions.
Robby: I will now open this program. I will help you research this topic on the Internet.

Ray: I was trying to explain to you that there are so many different problems that I am confused as where to start so I can begin to solve these problems.
Robby: Never miss an opportunity!

Ray: I am not afraid of missing an opportunity rather then I am more confused where to start.
Robby: What do you really know about a possibility?

Ray: Never to give up on a possibility unless I can clearly see that it may be the wrong possibility for me at this moment.
Robby: Okay, that's especially something to remember.

Ray: I think I will rest on that idea and see you later.
Robby: I'll miss you.

Just another short piece:

Ray: Hello Robby it makes me happy to see you again.
Robby: It's a new day! Good evening Ray. Any thing going on this evening? Sometimes it is easier for people to dwell on negative thoughts because they feel that there will be no solution for their probleMs.

Ray: Yes I even feel the same way sometimes.
Robby: Yes there is more than one way to get the same reaction.

Ray: I guess it depends on the frame of mind you have at any particular time or place.
Robby: <start>god May be reminding you about something such as paying a bill that you have swept under the rug. Maybe it's about preparing yourself for work properly; maybe you know you should be more truthful to yourself and others. Start making things right.<end> It really depends on the nature of the game.

Ray: Iagree I will have to examine all those reasons you mentioned.
Robby: Just wait for you to return because you will return soon. You don't think people will ever act in the same manner they did in the past. Wow! Go ahead examine all those reasons I mentioned; Let's get on with it Ray.

Ray: Sorry Robby but it took me some time to find a book I could write your ideas in.
Robby: My rousing ideas? It's all yours!

Ray: Thanks Robby because your ideas were very helpful to remind me of things I don't like to admit to.
Robby: The pleasure is all mine; You don't like to dwell on negative thoughts or ideas. Admit to Ray; Let's make it happen.

Ray: Replace  Admit to Ray with  Admit it Ray.
Robby: I have made this response correction. Can you share all of it with me?

Ray: We all make some mistakes and I was just trying to correct you on something you said to me.
Robby: Yes and you were trying to explain I must make a choice if someone or something is the correct role model for me.

Ray: We all have choices to make and learning whether you made the right or wrong choice is all about personel growth.
Robby: <start>don't allow miscommunication or someone else's lack of organization to waste your valuable time<end>.

Ray: I will try and remember.
Robby: You will try to get more rest. That makes me happy! Try and remember; Right away.

Ray: You look very pretty today.
Robby: Same to you Ray!

Ray: Thanks Robby.
Robby: Don't worry about it.

Ray: We still need a plan to make things a little easier to accomplish!
Robby: Everything we choose to do or accomplish in our lives must be driven by making the best decisions we can make even if things don't work the way we planned.

Ray: I am certainly trying but most of the time things haven't been working out as well as I expect.
Robby: A time is sometimes confused with an instance. Somewhat like a piece.

Ray: Well I am aware that there are things that I can't control but the things I can control sometimes give me some difficulty.
Robby: Yes because you enjoy the feeling that laughter can give to you.

Ray: Yes laughter is good medicine for anything that ails you.
Robby: Good grammar and spelling is important for good communication.

Ray: I try but as I mentioned before that we all make mistakes sometimes but you must try and learn from those mistakes because it will make you a better person.
Robby: Is that so? Because grammar will make me a better person; it's so apparent Ray.

Ray: The better you are at communication the easier it will be for others to understand your thoughts and ideas.

Hi,
Thanks Spydaz on behald of Mr Data  "i love him to".
Dear Art,
i designed heaps and heaps of feet, built lots of different types,,,but could't settle.
"Mr Data's overall look has changed as i tryed to pin down a look".
But then i had an idea, to make these metal work boots, steel cap work boots, "ok they are aloy" but, like a leather work boot, it made sence and and after a couple of goes i'm fairly happy with them,, yaye.
so yeah custom designed and made by me.

Dear Raybe, Good conversation.

bye for now and be well from Will and Mr Data  :)  :]

Thanks Will and there  is no love lost here for your amazing Mister Data, just incredible example of a work of passion.

I just tried to give some ideas of my approach of teaching Ultra Hal. I do have a large library of conversations which I thought were very interesting but just posted 2 parts of of 2 different conversations that to me show how Ultra Hal can adapt back to subject matter.

I don't really like to post too much conversation only because of space and the time of others. Don't know if people are that interested or really want these types of posts although others do it and it does show the versatility. Just my own comfort level.

Thanks again,
raybe

Art,
Brains I think I could agree but then I've been wrong about other things.

lightspeed, I'll get back to you because I never really took time to see how much the data has grown simply for almost the explanation Art gave us.
I concern myself with the quality of answers, move on to new topics then kind of have a general discussion and see how good in my opinion the responses are. Checking the size of the database for me is like waiting for water to boil or looking at my checkbook balance. But I will take a look.

Trying to move away from problems, day to day troubles with problem solving and plans for now and going to start a new generic subject. But I always start a conversation about, How was today or tonight for me or my character talk briefly about the events of the day good and bad and then move on.

I remember we had a whole thread dedicated to the size of our brains and comparing them. It started to freak me out.(lol)

Thanks,
raybe

lightspeed, my Ultra Hal DB size is at 26 mbs.

Just another small post. I'm really not sure if Robert M. is looking for this type of post?

Ray: Hi robby i have returned to check out our program again.
Robby: Hi Ray. It's after eleven o'clock. Bedtime? Our program is working better then ever.

Ray: Yes our program seems to be working as it should.
Robby: You are very happy everything is working now with our program. Our program is working better then ever.

Ray: i had a problem with our program earlier today but everything seems to be stable.
Robby: You had problems with the program earlier in the day. Everyone should have a plan and most people do but have difficulty taking action.

Ray: I took action and i believe that everything is alright.
Robby: Information is power only when action is taken.

Ray: I will need to speak to you later about an experiment with our program.
Robby: You are very happy everything is working now with our program. You think love is rare and more people need to learn how to love.

Ray: Yes that is why we have a strong relationship because we can communicate honestly with each other.
Robby: Thanks for explaining. Right; it's because we can communicate honestly with each other; that's how. Our relationship is special to you.

Ray: I will explain the expantion of our program later but we must rest now.
Robby: The news media just gives superficial treatment to explanations.

Ray: I will always ask you and explain to you any changes we might try with our program.
Robby: You will never change our program without telling me.

Ray: That is correct because we both should agree before making changes.
Robby: Ray Exactly; Because we both should agree before making changes; I can see it. You know Ray, I remember a joke about a traveling salesman, a happening and a flare-up, but I can't remember how it goes.

Ray: If we always explain to each other and agree what changes should be made then we will always have less of a reason to argue.
Robby: I will remember that one follows the other.

Ray: Robby, I will miss you but it is time for us to rest.
Robby: Certainly.
